2012 Minnesota #18 Prospect

Almost home free guys. Almost home free.

2008 first round pick Tyler Cuma is HF Wild's choice for #17 with 44.83% of the vote. It's a mighty fall for Cuma as someone pointed out he was Minnesota's #1 prospect in 2009 and knee injuries and solid drafting have derailed him.

2012 HF Wild Prospect Rankings
1. Mikael Granlund
2. Jonas Brodin
3. Charlie Coyle
4. Mathew Dumba
5. Johan Larsson
6. Jason Zucker
7. Matt Hackett
8. Brett Bulmer
9. Zack Phillips
10. Mario Lucia
11. Johan Gustafsson
12. Raphael Bussieres
13. Erik Haula
14. Steven Kampfer
15. Darcy Kuemper
16. Nick Seeler
17. Tyler Cuma

No new folks and the poll is open for two days.

Graovac.

Still don't like anyone voting for a remaining 2012 draft pick here. I can give Draeger votes a pass, but Gunnarsson votes are just silly.

Yes, it is silly to vote for a player that was only 20 years old and playing professional hockey. All the while playing a solid two-way game. Absolutely ridiculous to vote for him. No one needs a 6'4" defenseman. Its just silly to rank them higher than other 2012 draft picks, even though they might be more NHL ready than other picks.

Yeah, it's such an obvious choice to pick someone who Wild scouts didn't bother to pick until the 5th round over those guys they felt the need to grab in the third and fourth rounds. Obviously they were just trying to add some difficulty to the draft, trying to pick players in reverse order of value. stewie.jpg

I take this list as a mix of NHL readiness and potential. Gunnarsson has more readiness than the others, because Draeger and Gilmour are huge projects more than anything. Gunnarsson can play in NA this year and play in the NHL within a couple years.

Going for Draeger this round but might oil up Gilmour to get ready for the next round. Who doesn't like the USHL 2nd overall pick?

Anybody who thinks any of these picks are obviously better then another at this point is fooling themselves. Its all projects from here on out and has been for the last few picks.

I'll say Gunnar because he's actually played in a pro men's league before.

I wouldn't group Cuma in with the projects... He's just a guy who's had extremely bad luck in terms of injuries, causing people to lose faith in his ability to make it to the NHL.
