I follow Women's soccer and Great Britain definitely is a beatable team. Canada was fortunate not to win the division, otherwise they would be facing France, a more difficult opponent. And they avoid the Americans, which is a success itself. I just hope they start their other keeper tomorrow, yesterday was a nightmare. I think they have a shot at a medal, if they cut down on their defensive errors. Their backend can be a bit of a nightmare at times.

Looks like this for tomorrow
  • Rowing Women's eight. Qualified 1st. (7:30 AM ET)
  • Badminton Women's double Semifinal. A win guarantees a silver (1:30 PM ET)
  • Women's 200m Backstroke: Martha Mccabe. Qualified 7th (2:40 PM ET)

I wish we had a team in track cycling.

Well, they can forget about Gold for sure since the New Zealand team is ridiculously unbeatable. They might medal but I wouldn't bet much on it.

They were 3rd in their SF, but looks like the 3 best boats were in that SF

That was an exciting women's 8 race! I was hoping we'd catch the US, but I'm happy for the silver!

FWIW, at this point in the Olympics SI thought we'd have 2 Silvers (Mens and Womens 8's) and a Bronze (10m synchro diving for women). With 2 Silvers and 5 Bronze we're ahead of their picks.

Would you be kind enough to list their canadian medal picks for the rest of the games?

IMO, Dominique Pegg is the most beautiful young woman in Canada. Hope she can upset the hell out of everyone and win a medal in gymnastics.

Got up earlier this morning to catch the women's final and was very pleased with the silver finish. That American team apparently hasn't lost either an Olympic or World Championships rowing event in close to six years, so for the Canadian women to turn it on like they did intensity-wise in the final 250 metres was outstanding to watch. Props to the men's team for their compelling performance in the same event yesterday as well (I don't believe I mentioned them yet). Both teams improved as their race progressed.

Still got Martha McCabe in the 200 m backstroke and the badminton women's pairings later on today. Also have a shot at a boxing medal apparently.

Really encouraging start to these Games for Canada given that we didn't have a single medal, bronze or any other colour, until day nine four years ago in Beijing. As another posted correctly alluded to, Canada is well ahead of its pace with most of our medal threats remaining in week two. The first week has been an unmitigated success though.

Yeah, they gave it their all so there's not too much disappointment there. Just a matter of more talented teams meeting their expectations and the Canadian men unfortunately got left out.

We weren't predicted to medal in that event though, so it's not a complete loss.

She's already wrecked any slim chance she had. Her beam routine was .500 worse than her team rountine earlier in the Olympics. Even at her best, it would have been hard to medal, but those slight mess-ups really hurt her.

Great performance thus far for Canada. I predicted 22 medals at the start, looks like that may happen.

we lost the badminton match, so it's off to the bronze medal game - we still have a shot at a medal.

mccabe finished 5th.

any medal chances tomorrow?

Heck of an effort by Michelle Li in that Badminton game. She had a strong singles game against the Number one ranked player as well. Too bad Bruce, isn't nearly as good as Li. Might have been a different result. But good game overall for the girls, doing respectable against some excellent competition. I would be very surprised if they are able to beat the Russians for the Bronze, but strange things can happen.

Gold

Catherine Pendrel - Mountain Bike
Tara Whitten - Omnium - cycling - She actually came in 4th place in the World Championships last year. Hopefully that was just an off event.

Silver

Dylan Armstrong - Shotput
Adam Van Koeverden - Kayak Singles - 1000 metres
Karen Cockburn - Trampoline
David Calder and Scott Frandsen - Pairs without cox - rowing
Carol Huynh - wrestling
Martine Dugrenier - wrestling

Bronze

Mark Oldershaw - Canoe Singles - 1000 metres
Zach Bell - Omnium - cycling
Team Canada Women - Team Pursuit - indoor cycling
Eric Lamaze - Individual show jumping - I would be surprised at this. His good horse died last year.
Karine Sergerie - Taekwondo
Tonya Verbeek - wrestling

we didn't get a medal in rowing and armstrong barely qualified in the shot put final. i hope this is not a bad omen.

we're pretty much guaranteed the trampoline medals, right?

Ryan Cochrane qualified 3rd in distance swimming (1500m, I think), and may very well end up on the podium.

No medal for Jason Burnett, derp.

Jumped too far to the right of the trampoline which ended his jump.
