Eberle is untouchable for Edmonton. Lucic is untouchable for Boston. No player is going anywhere since each player matters way too much for each team to be traded. Pretty pointless proposal.

This forum has a weird obsession with size. Size doesn't win championships.

This is a myth that has been debunked many times before.

Love Lucic, saw alot of him in Junior. No way Edmonton does this deal. Lucic and a sizeable add.

Everyone knows Eberle chokes when the pressure is on. Just not a big game player....

When two players are as young as these two you have to look at the long term not just right now. Long term, it's hard to argue that Lucic will be the better player so straight up the deal would never happen from the Oilers' perspective. From the Bruins' perspective, losing that toughness and hard nosed scoring touch that they get from Lucic seriously erodes the grit that has been Boston's identity for decades. I think this kind of deal would actually hurt both teams more than it would help. You just don't go trading young heart and soul guys like this because they can't possibly mean as much to the fans of the other team as the guy who was traded away.

That would be a trade i guess could happen, Eberle is superior player, Boston adds skill to their forward corps that is thin after Seguin. Getting Hamilton i guess would be necessary for this trade to make sense for Edmonton.

Flame away!
NO thanks.

The post you quoted is one of the stupidest things I've ever read on this forum. Great response

How many points would Eberle have if he was on a team where playing defense wasn't optional?

Fair value, but players like these don't get traded 'just because'.

Probably something like 34-42-76

Maybe more if he gets the TOI he deserves

Interesting question, since Eberle is one of our best 2-way players.

Nothing makes me think that, and that is not what I said. But I hope you're not saying Edmonton plays a defensive system like Boston does. Perhaps Eberle is aware of his defensive responsabilities, but he is still on a team where defense is mostly optional and where there is zero pressure because everyone knows Edmonton is expected not to make the playoffs while they are rebuilding.

If I'm Edmonton, I'd never trade Eberle to Boston, unless Seguin would be coming back. And that's not a knock on Chara, Marchand, Lucic etc. Any team would be lucky to each either of those players. If the trade isn't there, why make it? Edmonton should not be so eager to trade away the Big 4 just yet.

The same could be said for Boston. Lucic is a beast PF, one of the best in the game. Why would they make this type of deal? He is a rare commodity in this age.

Although there may be fair value there, it's another unnecessary trade that does not make sense. It's a facepalm that the Oilers Big 4 are being proposed for the second day in a row... lol. Another facepalm for those saying Eberle doesn't play defense.

Only to those who don't understand what Lucic brings to the game. Those that understand will feel fine no matter how well Eberle does since all of us know this trade would never happen anyway.

Well, Lucic has won his cup. Lets wait when Edmonton makes the playoffs. Or lets start with them not finishing in the lottery position, which is yet again the probable scenario.

I agree with most of this except the guy was talking about Oilers team defence .. Meaning there run and gun offence first team, compared to the Bruins the totally opposite and this is were the Pts change from one team to another if a player is trade to different styles of coaching ...

Lets say James Neil for example sure put up good numbers in Dallas but now that it's offence first look at difference sure a couple better players on Pittsburgh but you can hardly count Crosby being there so far

Yes, because hockey is an individual sport like tennis or golf. Lucic won a championship and Eberle finished in the lottery.

Good thing Ray Bourque joined that stacked Avs team or people like you would have assumed he was a horrible player.

Eberle for Lucic is fair, if not a slight edge to Edmonton. Lucic is a unique talent. In saying that neither gets dealt.
