First off, it'll be a long while until the Wings and the Blackhawks make another trade. When they last made a swap, in 2007, the Wings were contenders and the Blackhawks were bottom-feeders. Now both teams are contenders, and they're rivals.

Second, I don't think the Wings will be trading their #3 scorer, who just had a career year, for a non-physical defensive defenseman and a useless prospect.

Morin is far from a useless prospect. Maybe you meant Beach, but then you didn't really read the proposal.

Detroit says no. Absolutely not interested in giving up Flip for this and watching him burn us.

Yeah, Filppula's probably (hopefully) not really available. Trade him and we're one Datsyuk or Zetterberg injury away from Darren Helm as 2nd line C.

Not slamming the proposal's value by any means, just saying I think Flip is more valuable to Detroit than some might realise.

He's unproven. And unless he was amazing, his inclusion wouldn't anyway make this deal any more palatable to the Wings.

I would like that and think the value is good. I don't see it happen. When you miss on Parise, Suter & Weber after losing Lidstrom, I don't see how the Wings would agree to this deal. They need Filppula more than Hjalmarsson.

Hjalmarsson to the Wings would be something I could actually see working out for both teams...

The Hawks defense would then be

Keith-Seabrook
Oduya-Leddy
Montador/Olsen-Brookbank

No thank you

I think the only missing out the Wings did was on Suter. 20+ teams missed out on Parise and Weber was never a realistic option for Detroit.

As for the Trade, probably wouldn't happen within the division, but I do think the value is pretty good.

It's a gamble for the wings with more downside than upside. Wings would definitely say no.

Its not that the offer is that bad... its just that the wings would be able to get better offers from other teams for Filppula. I'm sure they wouldn't be too keen on giving Chicago exactly what they need for that price either.

Somehow I agree and think Holland may not find this move in his best interest.

Maybe if they were different conferences.

Morin seems like a speedy guy with good hands and scoring touch. The question is will his scoring abilities translate to the NHL?

Seems Filppula has been in a lot of trade proposals lately. I guess his value has really skyrocketed.
