What do you want me to start a poll about exactly? Do you want me to ask the GMs of the NHL if Kesler won a playoff series single handedly? Nobody said Filppula is a better player then Kesler and if anybody did it certainly wasn't me. What in the actual **** are you talking about?

Actually it is. If yo compare the Red Wings to the team 3-4 years ago it is certainly different, but Pavel was on pace for possibly his best year last year. He was in the Hart and Art Ross talk for a while until he got hurt.

Datsyuk will probably still be better then Kesler in 4 years.

Lol, datsyuk is so immensely beyond Kesler, and maybe Pittsburgh should trade you Crosby for Kesler + Luongo?

Sorry man, Kesler is good, but even age in consideration, is not worth datsyuk

Well, Datsyuk is far and away a better player... But age wise, it may be even in value tbh.

It would be risky to start season at 4 months after shoulder labrum surgery, especially if the tear was bad.

Datsyuk @ 27 >>>>>> Kesler @ 27

Datysuk @ 34 => kesler @ 27

Simply because he can only reasonably be expected to be a star for another 2-4 years

Where kesler could still improve and you get 5-7 years out of him if not more.

Yep, the guy plays through injuries but then takes **** from Canucks fans for not producing. He still kept Richards off the scoreboard in the last 4 games of the Kings vs Canucks series.

When I saw the title I knew it was gonna be a horrible proposal. But never in my life would I expect something as terrible as this.

There's is absolutely no reason for Detroit to aquire Kesler as he's not much of an upgrade from Filppula for an unimportant role on the team.

I would absolutely not be willing to give up any assets to make that move. Maybe a 5th.

That works, we get a better albeit older player in a last ditch effort to win the cup, and the Wings get a player that is years younger and is almost as good when healthy

Wings need an Andrew Ladd type player, not Kesler. DRWs already have Filpulla that fills that roll.

Lol.

The OP sucks. But you guys are overvaluing kesler a lot if you think he is anywhere near trade value to datsyuk and zetterberg.

Typical trade proposal on HF. Team A requests player x for player(s) y in a proposal. There is a counter-proposal, team A dislikes counter-proposal and proceeds to shred player x and describe why he sucks etc.

The Canucks are not trading Kesler.

Nor do the Wings really need him, so I don't know why this is even being brought up.

I'd bet on Datsyuk being better four years from now than Kesler.

Wrist, shoulder and hip issues aren't great news for hockey longevity

Wings' fans apparently think Datsyuk will retire in 2 years so Kesler has much better value.

You talk about Kesler's injuries...how about Datsyuk's? Only 126 regular season games out of 164. Kesler played 159 out of 164.

Kesler has more value...try to be realistic. 2 years of Datsyuk is worth a lot but you can't count on him being great at 37 years old or even in the NHL. He might still be playing...but maybe in Russia.

Here is thread where majority of Wings' fans think he'll retire in 2 years

You're overvaluing Datsyuk and Zetterberg if you can't even admit that Kesler is close in value.

Not sure what is so hard to comprehend about trade value. A 28 year old vs. a 32 year old vs. a 34 year old.

Datsyuk is 34 years old and will probably retire/go to Russia after his contract is done(in 2 years). Kesler and Zetterberg have better value. 2 years of Datsyuk is not worth a possible 7 years of Kesler.

Zetterberg and Kesler's value is really close...which makes your original statement completely foolish since Kesler has better value than one, and really close value to the other.

Defensively, Kesler is better. Both have had injury problems. Kesler is 4 years younger. Zetterberg has been more consistent offensively, but Kesler has had more points 1 out of the past 3 years. Offensively, there is a slight advantage to Zetterberg.

When you look at things realistically, you'd see that Zetterberg and Kesler are about even as far as how good they are. I do give a slight advantage to Z just because Kesler's down year. However, Kesler is 4 years younger so that evens out the value. Either way, they are really close in value. It is funny because you criticized others for overvaluing but really it was you.

that doesnt show much. If he plays in Russia, thats his choice. I dont see why his game would fall off that much in four years with his style of play. Kessler, on the other hand struggled coming back from serious hip injury, and now is coming back from wrist and shoulder injuries. He could easily never be the same player.

I would love to have Ryan Kesler back in his hometown. What do you think it would take to bring him back?

Filppula
Nyquist

Kesler

Thoughts?
I'm sorry, how is my original post bashing Kesler? Did you not read the line "I would love to have Kesler back in his hometown" ?

Definitely worth re-bumping.

We're still not trading Kesler, btw.
