Islanders would like yo announce that they made a trade Jesse joensuu and a 5th rounder to the leafs for Jay Mcclement. Islanders are pleased to get a 3rd line center and add depth to there young lineup.

In a blockbuster deal Toronto trades Morgan Rielly, Stuart Percy, a 2013 1st round pick (Toronto's), a 2014 first round pick, a 2013 2nd round pick, David Jones, and Jay Harrison to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for LW Ilya Kovalchuk, and D Anton Volchenkov. We are excited to see what Ilya can do playing with Claude. And we would really like to see what Anton can do for us on D. We know we gave up our future franchise defenceman in Rielly and that was hard to do, but we felt it was necessary in order to get Ilya. We pretty much sacrificed our future but we feel it will be worth it as we look to end this 7 year long playoff drought, and 45 year Stanley Cup drought.

Message to the league: When I said I wasn't going to be making any more huge moves unless something came up, this is the something that came up. I can actually now say I am happy with this roster and won't be making anymore trades, unless someone knocks my socks off with a proposal.

Red Wings excited to announce a new trade with the New York Islanders.

Filpulla + 2013 3rd + 2014 1st

for

Strome + deHaan + Donavon.

Though we give up a very good player in Filpulla, we feel moving forward we got a lot younger and better.

I wish people would discuss our trades as they do the real ones, so I could know how I did.

It's hard to tell value of first round picks due to a) player skill will dictate more than quality of team and b) whether EA has accelerated the rate of prospect progression

Well, I don't know if EA has speeded up progression, but they have now made it so we can see the skills of players were drafting. Obviously since were playing GM Connected we will be having an automated draft, but when were scouting we will be able to see what there skills are. Say Nathan Mckinnon, he may have a 75 wrist shot power, and 80 speed or something like that. We will be able to base our draft list on the ratings of their skills.
