The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to announce that they have traded Dave Bolland to the Boston Bruins for Chris Kelly and Dougie Hamilton pending any Luongo deal in real life. In a statement released, GM Ched Brosky said the the Canucks were initially not willing to part with Bolland as we felt once he got over his bad blood with the Sedins and the rest of the team that he could have been a key contributor but this deal was too good to pass up. In Kelly we get a solid replacement for Bolland and Hamilton fills our weakest positional need in a potential top pairing RH d-man almost ready to step into the NHL. We wish Bolland the best in his future endeavors
Now the Roberto Luongo trade looks like: Roberto Luongo, Manny Malhotra and Mason Raymond for Marian Hossa Chris Kelly and Dougie Hamilton

I still believe that our trades should happen no matter what goes on in real life. It is OUR league not real life. I think you should be able to deal luongo without having to worry about what goes in real life.

well I like to have real life rosters to work with

I do to, but I won't be happy if Luongo gets traded to T.O or something, and he is eating up my capspace. I could then relay him to you for a 7th round draft pick, and you could do your trade with CHI. I still think though we should start the season after that release day roster patch comes out.

the release day roster patch is out put up the day before the game is available to buy. That way people (including mid-night release buyers) have the current rosters for the game from the moment they pop it into their xbox. That is if I remember correctly

yep so those are the rosters I think we should start the league with.
Don't they have to wait for all the CHL players to play a game before they can be included or something? I remember this last year.
its more complicated. The CHL players like Yakupov who make the jump to the NHL will always be in the game, but prospects who jump from the CHL to the AHL will be out of the game for a little while.
The reason for this is once a CHL player leaves the CHL, the licensing agreement takes them out of the game. Each and every AHL player has to sign forms allowing their likeness to be used in a game. If a player ever plays in an NHL game, their automatically entered into the NHLPA for their career. NHLPA has a licensing agreement to allow any player in the NHLPA to be added into EA's NHL game.
Now heres where the tricky part comes in and why all our prospects in the CHL last season will be on our teams. The reason for this is because when the game is shipped and until those players play a game in the NHL or AHL or ECHL, or any other league, they are still under the licensing agreements with the CHL. Meaning those prospects will be on their CHL teams. But once the season starts, many of them (ones who go to the AHL) are taken out of the game as now all those players do not have licensed agreements until they sign their forms.
This happens in the 2nd roster update (1st one is release day, 2nd is end of October) when NHL teams have their teams set so EA can update rookies to adjust their CHL ratings to NHL ratings.
TSN Today a blockbuster trade has come out of left field involving the Montreal Candiens and the Edmonton Oilers Montreal has sent Carey Price, Nathan Beaulieu, Alex Galchenyuk and a 2nd round pick to Edmonton for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Devan Dubnyk and Oscar Klefbom. When reached for comment the Canadiens GM stated "Although we had to give up a major part of our team in Carey Price, we feel that the addition of Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Oscar Klefbom will have our team competing at a high level for years to come, and frees up much needed cap space for next seasons free agency.
