You dont think it would be a good idea to trade Boyle before he loses value?
It'd only be a good idea if we were able (or already have) to acquire a younger defenseman of his stature. But that's potentially costly (unless we drafted someone that has similar skillset).
I don't want to cut quality d pieces just for Tyler Kennedy, we can do a whole lot better than that.

Pittsburgh gets a #1 defencemen who can run the powerplay.

I'm expecting something like Orpik+ Sutter+ 2nd. People forget Boyle is still one of the best puckmovers in the game.

I'm not saying he is going to be a future star, but I think he would do well with us. Plus we would have more money to tempt Doan. I'm not saying overpay but at least get in the ballpark of what some teams are offering.

Woah, I was not trying to make Boyle look bad in any way. I feel like we always struggle with our bottom 6. We have a stacked top 6 even if they are slow. But our bottom 6 has always had trouble. Boyle is a great offensive defenceman who can run the PP. But I think we could get rid of him for more offense.
And then the D is right back to where it was pre-Burns trade.
This doesn't help the Sharks.

The D is worse than what it would be with Boyle, but if you get good forwards in return, the team might be better overall. This trade doesn't really do it for me though.
sharks getting hosed... if and for any reason we trade boyle is for a speedy top 6 winger... not a for sure not going anywhere 3rd liner... no thanks and never again... honestly only player would be neal and i doubt boyle + would get him... maybe a boyle clowe trade but i doubt pens do that because they would probably want pavs and i wouldnt throw pavs in on that trade...

Without referring to the actual value of the deal, as a Pens fan I get nervous when I trade 1st round picks for 36 year old defensemen. We need a 3-4 defenseman to stabilize things, not a #1.

Way to overthink it. "We don't need a #1 Dman for a mediocre trade package." Really? That's what you're going with?
I'd maybe still trade that package for Boyle if he was using a walker.
