Buf-Ana (Ryan again).

To ducks:
Drew stafford
Luke Adam
Mark pysk
Daniel catanacci
1st in 2014

Sabres:
Ryan

Reasoning: ducks lose Ryan but get back some scoring in stafford. They gain two decent prospects, one with 2nd line potential, a D prospect who could help replace the lost of Schutlz and a 1st on top of everything.

Close to fair??

No reason for the Ducks to do this.

Overpayment, yet still not what the Ducks need.

We've been through this about 5 million times. The Ducks want a 2C. While that's a clear overpayment, which I hope to god Regier wouldn't even offer, none of those players is a 2C = no deal.

Hypothetical: say at some point this year, Adam steps in (if someone got hurt or something, knock on wood), plays lights out (like he had at the start of last year), finds CONSISTENCY, and by the trade deadline, has emerged as a CLEAR 2C option. At that point, does he become the centerpiece of the Bobby Ryan package??

No way Regier would do anything close to that.

Hodgson (1,666,666)
Stafford (4 mill)
Leino (Higher cap hit less actual salary) (4.5 mill)
1st 2013

For

Ryan (5.1 mill)
Cogliano (2.39 mill)
and any cap dump Ducks need to do.

Or...

Hodgson
Armia
2nd

for

Ryan.

If we have the same issues as last year and Getzlaf and Perry have resigned? Yes.

Ignore Dirk. If it were up to him every player on the ice would be 6'5 and fight.

We've got a few of those on the Sabres board as well... There's no feasible deal between Buffalo and Anaheim, unless Murray was looking for prospects. Our center depth is so young and at the moment not very deep at all, if we trade one of Ennis or Hodgson (could argue they are 2nd line centers), we go from terrible to 'God please save us'.

Definitely a deal for Anaheim IMO. Cant see us getting a package like that though.

Honestly if it takes that kind of overpayment to land Ryan I'm not interested. I think the sabres are better off waiting at this point. If Grigorenko makes the team and impresses in the first half of the year maybe you consider trading one of Ennis/Hodgson + for Ryan. Until then it's just not feasible, unless they are willing to listen to offers that don't include one of our current top 6 centers.

Brutal. Ryan averages 10 more goals a year then Stafford, wouldn't offer either. Both are laughable overpayments for a disgruntled player.

Both trades look pretty good from a ducks perspective, at the very least a good starting point on both.

Doesn't look good at all from Buffalo. The difference between Ryan and Stafford is not Hodgson + 2013 first round pick.

I also added good starting points, i was implying the ducks may need to add something to make it beneficial to buffalo.

Stafford is kinda irrelevant, its the hodgson part that is intriguing, the first would be nice. I could care less about Stafford coming back.

Nope. If Darcy offers either of those packages, he should be fired.

They look like massive overpayment. Not gonna happen. The difference between Stafford and Ryan is nowhere near Hodgson alone, and the pick basically becomes a gift. Maybe if Regier is in the Christmas spirit.

No thanks on Stafford, he's had one outlier year, otherwise a 40-50 point player
