You're right Nashville was the other team seriously interested in Kessel, however as Chiarelli points out Toronto was the only team willing to make a firm offer an pay Kessel the money he wanted. Which leaves most teams out of the bidding for his services.
When Rick Nash wanted out Teams were lining up to acquire him and it was Nash that submitted a short list of only the teams he would go to because of his NTC. But the demand was high even from Teams like Toronto, but were excluded from his list.

Just to point out, Nash ended up bringing back far less in a trade than anyone thought he would. Remember how the Toronto media told us the starting offer for Nash would have to be Kadri's, Gardiner, Lupul and their top 5 pick?
