Clear cap space for Homer's next big move. Opens up more PT for Schenn.

Without even considering whether Briere would waive for Chicago....

A late 1st rounder for Danny Briere and a 3rd? This is some sort of joke right?

The Flyers can't get to the salary cap as it is, so there's no reason to remove Briere for a minimal return.

The 3rd has little value and it is not a deal breaker as far as I am concerned. But, Bowman gave up the 2nd and 3rd already so I imagine we would need to have at least one pick in those rounds though I couldn't care less.

The Flyers have plenty of cap space and Schenn will get his ice time by centering the 2nd line with Briere on one wing and Simmonds on the other.

I'd consider Briere for Teuvo.

Is there that much of a difference between TT and a mid range 1st? TT is untouchable (because 2nd line C has been a black hole) but I mean, how can basically the same pick next year be worth so much less?

Known vs unknown. Tuevo fell in this draft but has great talent. Its unclear where Chicago's pick will be, especially if they add Briere.

Because I know TT is a good player and I don't know what player might or might not be available when Chicago picks nor do I know where the pick falls in the first round.I suspect with a Briere, Chicago is a little more likely to be better than they were last year and thus pick in the 20+ range.

Briere is a 2C signed for 3 more years. Seems pretty straightforward that you'd be able to trade a TT and use your 1st rounder next year as a more longterm replacement, no?

Love how a throw in of Ray Emery is supposed to make us want it more

If we're making TT available, we could probably do better. He could be a main piece in a Perry or Getzlaf type trade.

If you believe that, fire away to Anahiem.

Sharp is almost 5 years younger, cheaper and playing better right now.

Briere doesn't waive his NTC and the Flyers don't ask him to waive it in the first place.

5 Reasons:
1. The Flyers are a playoff team.
2. Briere thrives in the playoffs.
3. Briere is happy in Philly.
4. Giroux.
5. Couturier.

Also has a ton fewer points in the playoffs.

this is god awful. we dont need cap room and a trade like this would just set us back much further. losing one of the best playoff performers for a team that makes the playoffs just about every year - bad idea.

what makes you think Briere would move his NTC to Chicago anyway?

We need a proven defensemen, so unless Briere can help get the Flyers that, I don't see him going anywhere.

I would do this but only so my Emery jersey would be relevant again.

Briere is undersized, terrible defensively and is up there in age while carrying a huge cap hit. I don't think GM's will be offering this much for him.
