I haven't seen anybody say it here, but kudos to CSKA and the KHL for allowing this. I hope Tampa and the NHL start thinking the same way with Stevie and Shanny.

This makes this game so much better. Hope a lot of people show up with retire Fedorov's jersey signs. Looking forward to him finally getting a warm reception, I am sure some idiots will boo, but it is on the rest of Wings fans to make sure that gets drowned out with a standing ovation.

Anyone caught booing Fedorov should be pelted with beer and nachos.

I would kill someone for tickets to this. I don't even care about anything other than seeing Feds in his jersey again.

Lets just hope a lockout doesn't ruin this for all of us.

Would be heartbreaking.

I made my parents guess and it took them 3 guesses to guess Fedorov. Lil shocked since they know he is my all-time favorite player. I can't wait to see him in a Wings jersey again.

Guess my love for Helm overshadows my love for Fedorov.

So good to see that Kenny invited Sergei.

Was one of my favorite players growing up...there was nothing like seeing that #91 sweater rippling while he flew down the ice.

Apparently he hasn't even laced the skates since his last game. His knee is pretty bad I guess. Though it would be great to see him play I think he has given us enough.

True this. The guy put the team on his back for 3 cup runs. Booing? Give me a break.

I will never condone assaulting people and wasting beer, except in this one case

^stevie is GMing the Lightning too, might be considered a bit of a conflict of interest.

More than being a GM in a league that has a spotty history of getting along in with the NHL. If CSKA and the KHL can allow this surely the around the league for an NHL event that helps the whole league it couldn't be the big issue.

I think the bigger problem for Stevie is his knee, it has been mentioned before but his health is a big issue as far as him playing. He hasn't been skating or even taken a skate around or anything down in Tampa.

The interesting one would be Shanny as far as league involvement. I would hope they would green light him having that day off if the Red Wings asked.

This makes me extremely happy. Vladdy is easily going to have the best reaction if he can just skate out on the ice, even if he needs the walker.

Chelios did it, why not Vladdy?

In all seriousness, I won't be able to hold back if he actually just even stands on skates.

I remember watching the breaking news and feeling my heart drop. I was actually interviewed the day after by the news, I was at the Gordie Howe book signing.

1. I'm afraid no one will boo... because the Wings will be low in the standings so this will be the highlight of our season (I hope I'm dead wrong).

2. Kozlov will join when the KHL schedule comes out and he gets permission from his team.

3. I'd love for Konstantinov to get out on the ice (even if in a wheelchair) for one fun exhibition shift... but I'd also like if Mironov played with the unit.

4. Hull has to play if Robitaille is playing. He delayed his retirement announcement until the Wings came to Phoenix so he could have his friends there.

5. Shanny has to play. He's too unappreciated here (in the D, not on the boards) as a member of the cups. We need to say goodbye in proper fashion... not as a footnote of Yzerman's retirement. I think Feds and Shanny were deprived of love because we gave it all to Yzerman. Lids just didn't care. Cause he's a gangster. Totally secure. While that's great... I'd be more like Feds and Shanny.

6. Yzerman has to play. He has to play. He has to play.

7. Fetisov and Larionov. We're so blessed to get to claim them as our own. Seriously.

Other people have said this too, any proof? I thought I saw him on skates after a Red Wings practice once during the 2008 playoffs. And I thought he skated around during a prospect camp after he retired as well? I'm sure he can glide around at 5mph on skates despite his knees.... that's gotta be faster than half the guys who will be playing anyways!

Hull will play. If he does things like call free agents (Modano) to try to get them to come to Detroit, he will play in an alumni game.

Really? I think if you ask anyone in Detroit, they all would have love for Shanny.

I don't foresee it being a problem (hopefully) but the Alumni game falls on December 31st, while Tampa is still on the road in Winnipeg.

Tampa seems like the type of organization that would allow him the day off though. Would love to see #19 lace 'em up again. I'm looking forward to the Alumni game more than the actual Winter Classic.

I haven't seen any mention that these guys will actually be PLAYING in the Alumni Game (excluding Vladdy, obviously). It just says they will be taking part in the festivities. That will suck if they don't play, but at least they will be there.

Also, I read in The Detroit News that Kozlov is waiting to see what this seasons KHL schedule will look like before committing to the Alumni Game.
