Should we blame that at-bat, too?

Welcome to being a fan of the Pirates. We know we aren't a WS team. First step with this team - a .500 season. If we have a winning season - ****ing right! Nobody here is saying we are going to make a WS push and we know we have holes.

Come on, now.

Has Snider hit a single ball in the air since he's been here? Let's take this long shot reclamation project and make him our everyday right fielder for the playoff chase. Just brutal. Possibly one of the worst moves ever and what's worse is we might waste a big chunk of next year on this bum.

Get a ****ing grip.

A .200 hitter rolls over a DP and it's a season killer against the hottest team in baseball. Give me a break.

The absolutes that are spoken in this thread are absolutely hilarious to me.

I've been dying for a winning season for 15 + years. But look at the Royals. They had a winning season in 2003 and then lost 104 games the next year and havent won 80+ games since. If you do things continually on the cheap you will never win. They should have gone and gotten a legit bat at the deadline not AAA guys. Why get Gaby Sanchez when they could have gotten Carlos Lee for basically nothing. Reason - $$$

This hate-on for Snider you have is getting into pretty comedic territory.

It's been quite a frustrating game...but we still have J Mac and AJ going in our next two games. Plus this one isn't out of the picture quite yet. We are the comeback kids for a reason (just not likely against the hottest team).

As for the Reds- they are just ON FIRE right now. Things go the right way. They get double plays when they need 'em. They get safe calls when they are questionable. This team is absolutely on a run right now.

if you are going to complain about the owners not spending, I suggest you find a new team. Simple as that.

You do realize that Carlos Lee has a say as to who he gets traded to right? I am fairly sure that he wouldn't go to the Pirates when it has been documented that he turned down other trade offers more appealing than Pittsburgh. Also, if you look in the recent history say past 3 years, Sanchez and Lee are roughly equivalent with Sanchez being slightly better so what is the reason for getting an older player who is owed more money and performs worse?

Re: Marte - He has always had a fairly high K rate and has had mediocre plate discipline so his free swinging certainly shouldn't be surprising, particularly to the "Free Marte" crowd that was clamoring for his call up.

1. He's not a "reclamation project." He's a 24 year old RF who has 800 ABs in the majors, 1/2 of which were before he was 22. He's young and still rising as a player. Certainly not a reclamation project. The reason he wasn't successful was due to the hitting philosophy of Cito Gaston and the Blue Jays organization the first time around. They wanted him to attempt to pull the ball with authority, which isn't his game as he is an all-fields hitter. It's extremely tough to make adjustments in the majors as a 21 year old. This is not some guy we're praying is good. He is well-regarded around the majors, and is a solid player.

2. Who the hell is he replacing? Alex Presley, who hit .217 in June. He's regarded as an above average fielder too, so we aren't losing much there taking Presley out of the field. Sorry, but if you don't see him as an upgrade on Alex freaking Presley, may god have mercy on your soul.

Marte just shouldn't be hitting lead off. We need to get Tabata back up, drop Marte in the order and send Snider packing.

welcome to HF Pens board. If you don't immediately find consistent success, you will fail forever.

Barmes is to Hurdle as Adams is to Bylsma

Snider in his tremedously small sample size as a Pirate---- .273 avg and .385 obp yep, he's the problem

What's wrong with Snider so far? He's 3 for 9 coming into today plus a walk. Am I missing something?

Yes, because Tabata is the best option considering they sent him down when they didn't even have someone to hit lead off.
