I remember when I was skinny.

College put a stop to that real fast. Drinking and the large quantities of eating done while drinking both ensured a sizable increase in my waistline.

Interesting story I just heard on the radio. Jon Jones (UFC star) signed an endorsement deal with Nike.

CM Punk then tweeted the following (referring to Jones, who had a DUI earlier in the year, was arrested and went to court and attended alcohol abuse sessions):

Personally, I don't think you should throw stones if you live in a glass house. The WWE has had it's share substance abuse problems.

I know we got a lot of wresting fans here. What do you think about what Punk said???
Punk says what he wants, just like his character in WWE says. I find myself agreeing with him a lot of the time too. Best was when him and Chris Brown got into it on Twitter because Punk said he never really paid his dues for what he did to Rihanna. He challenged Brown to a fight for charity which Brown basically tried to ignore. Hysterical considering he said he would hurt Punk from what I remember but when Punk offered to fight, he wouldn't answer

Quote:
WWE heavyweight champion CM Punk is lashing back at Chris Brown ... claiming the singer isn't just a liar ... but a total "coward" who never truly "paid" for what he did to Rihanna.

Punk released a video statement moments ago ... in response to Brown's allegations that he's a steroid-abuser with an inadequate penis.

In his video, Punk starts out by saying he's "a proud life long drug free straight edge individual" ... and then spends the next minute BLASTING Brown.

"Chris and I come from different worlds. I don't have an assistant. I don't have a body guard. I don't have a manager or a PR person telling me to delete tweets like Chris does, and I don't hit women. Period."

He adds, "[Chris] has made the wrong accusations to the wrong person because I can defend myself."

Punk then challenges Brown to a no-holds barred fight for charity ... and says, "I will choke you out and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has the misfortune of knowing a sad cowardly little boy such as yourself."

150. That would be a goal for me.

I come in at 5'11'', 135. I mean, I'm not complete skin and bone and I would say that I have a decent physique. I just have 0 mass.

Put me in the category that wants to gain weight. ~5'9" 135lbs

I've been doing small workouts for the better part of two months now and have really made no progress. Mostly because I don't have an appetite a lot of the time these days due to some things going on in my life.

I really need to up my workouts/protein intake...I've been 135lbs since I was 16 (22 now). It's pretty ridiculous.

I'm around the same area. Probably 5'10ish 135 myself. I wanna gain weight though I've admittedly made little to no effort to. I'm sure my fast metabolism will slow down as I get older though and all the crap I eat will catch up to me.

I'm not sure if my scenario is genetic or not, but nearly every single male in my family grew up with lean bodies.

Thing is I REALLY want to play ice hockey, I never have. I mean, I love the game so much so I figured I'd really love to get on the ice to play. But I'm not playing at any weight less than 160...so until I get there, if I ever do, the dream has to wait.

It's unfortunate that I'm too lazy to join a gym, at least right now. A couple of months more of unemployment and I'm sure that will change

So for now I'll stick with 3 sets of 30 pushups and 50 crunches. 4 sets of 20 15 lb dumbbell curls. Calf raises some days as well. And if I'm REALLY feeling it, I'll take a trip to the basement and do 4 sets of ten 25lb dumbbell chest presses.

Anyone have any suggestions for someone who has a pair of 15 and 25lb dumbbells and a flat exercise bench who doesn't want to join a gym?

That's what my dad weighs, and he's been smoking 1-2 packs a day for the last 40 years.

I know we had a thread about this, but there was no need for a bump.

Beginnings is coming back next season. The Rangers Facebook posted a picture of the filming of Richards' episode. Meaning we will see him (and likely others) I hope they got Staal this time

They already did Staal last season.

This season is Girardi, McDonagh, and Richards.

A good tip for the group out there looking to gain weight:

A general guideline is you consume the amount of protein you wish to weigh in grams.

For example: I currently weigh 160. If I wanted to get to 175, I would need to consume 175g of protein per day.

Working out is good, but the key is getting the protein immediately afterwards. When you work out, your are creating microtears in your muscles. The reason you get bigger is because your body repairs those tears, but tries to build it up bigger so it won't tear again (makes sense, right?). If you don't consume enough protein in your diet, you won't be able to repair bigger, and generally, you'll stay around the same weight.

Food for thought.

Looks like everyone wants to either gain or lose weight (including me)

We should all just be happy with who we are

According to the BMI index, I'm currently a 25.6 which is slightly overweight. Overweight is anywhere from 25-29.9

If I were to drop down to 200, I'd be a 24.3 which I'd be very happy with. If any of you are interested in your BMI, use this: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Those things don't really account for muscle mass. According to them I'm obese because I'm 5'9 185 but I work out 4-5 days a week and am anything but obese. I have large thigh muscles due to genetics.

BMI is somewhat controversial. It's decent for the general population, but it isn't an exact science.

For example:

Using the BMI chart, Chris Kreider (6'3", 230) is overweight. Martin St. Louis is also overweight according to the BMI. Vernon Davis (jacked SF tight end) is obese according to the BMI.

As you can see, BMI isn't an exact science for determining obesity. % body fat is a much more accurate measurement.
