Well the Panthers wouldn't as there is absolutely no way that they could afford to pay him. There is more to the trades than just the quality of the players now.

Win now mode.

He is still a top 10 goalie & has shown the consistency to make you believe he will play at a high level for a long time.

1 of those players will play for the team & 1 wouldn't. How does that help? Who knows if they live up to their hype?

Edler is an UFA.

He might stay, signing a big contract, or leave at the end of the year

Luongo adds 6.7 million of real salary...

So we add Edler, say around 5.5mil+(to keep the following years and then 6.7 million dollars from Lu.
But only subtract around 3.5-4mil in salary.

Yea, not going to happen from a salary standpoint, especially when players like Kulikov this year need a raise and Weiss the following year.

Then factor in Gudbranson was Tallon's first pick as a GM here, who has nothing but improve as the year went on. Plus, Bjugstad who has improved on his weaknesses since being drafted and looking great in the rookie minicamps. Oh, then realize we are not competing for the cup(lol) and are patiently waiting for our prospects to mature to build our core. Here's a hint, Tallon is banking on guys like Gudbranson and Bjugstad to be our core.

We are not a team who is a goalie away from a run. We have no reason to give up our second best prospect and our young promising defenseman for a 33 year old goalie, who posted a tad better stats than Theodore and a soon to be UFA defenseman.

Can't see either team doing this especially Vancouver. Can't see them giving up their #1 goalie and their #1 defenseman for just prospects and Scott Clemensen

But, but, but...its Roberto Luongo, and while he is 33 years old, he has years left in the tank. And dont worry about his nine year deal, he has said he would retire before the deal was over. Yeah, the same guy that agreed to a deal with the Panthers, only to back out of it and ask for more, more, more.

Would I take Luongo back, yes I would, but only if the price is convenient enough for the Panthers. Would us Panthers fans want Bjugstad sent in return for Luongo, absolutely not. Does that make us homers, absolutely not! It is our OPINION, and what we want for OUR team, and because that opinion differs from what you Vancouver fans think, it doesnt make it wrong. I dont want to give up our best center prospect, which is a position in which we are really thin at, for Luongo, it just is not beneficial to this team at the moment.

The Panthers and Canucks are two different teams. They are built differently, there is a difference in revenue, and there is a difference in popularity. The Panthers must build this team from within, and only make the necessary sign and/or trade when this team is ready to contend. Tallon has stressed this from day one, and has built this team in that manner. The Panthers are stacked at every position, and we will begin to see Huberdeau, Howden, Bjugstad, Markstrom, etc. over the next couple of seasons, so right now, making a move for Luongo is premature. With or without Luongo, the Panthers will not be winning the cup this season, so again, unless Tallon gets him at the price he wants, then we are just fine going into next season with our same duo from last season.

Yes, Florida says no. No chance is Erik traded, Tallon won't move Jugs.

110% well said. The bolded part is really what seems to be ignored from other fans. We're a team that is on a 3-5 yr plan going into yr 3. If they were going into yr 5 or 6, then maybe Luongo makes more sense. But we still have a long way to go to build within and thats what Tallon and the ownership is planning to do with the Panthers for the forseeable future. Value basically has nothing to do with the conversation for us at this point in time.

Stop with the Jugs, Hubs, Guds trade offers! There not moving!!

In the end Luongo will be traded for a pick and salary dump

I agree we should stop asking for him.

And I'd be okay with a pick + dump if Luongo goes to Edmonton.

Yup. End of story.

It isn't the value, but we have a window with the Sedins that we need to take advantage of. We'd be stupid to move a part like Edler right now.

Hey, you know i've been at odds with alot of Van fans, but even i agree with this. Why are some Nucks fans looking to deal Edler? He's a huge piece of your core right now, and with his age, can only improve.
