Id say 0 for 5 minutes haha. Even if something is already lined up and ready to go right now, it would probably be 15-20 minutes before anything gets confirmed or talked about.

I don't think we'll see the Avs make a move tonight. and I wouldn't even put us at more then 30% to make a move all week. If we do make a move, it'll either be very minor as in a depth Dman for a pick or something, or it will one of those insane Shermanator trades like the Johnson trade and the Downie and McGinn trades last year.

Im gonna say we don't make any moves this week, but wouldn't be entirely surprised to see something small.

I do not think we will see hardly any movement on the trade front around the NHL, and even less odds the Avs actually do anything.

No one really knows what they have right now given the long break, and it is even harder to evaluate other teams players. Given the rapid start to the season, most teams would probably rather sit with what they have and just see where things go.

Chemistry will also play a huge role, so it is better to keep guys around that know each other.

Now, come the deadline, we could see major movement as every team in a playoff spot may legitimatly think they have a shot to win the cup and be willing to go in whole hog....that is unless there is such a small division between the teams in and out of the playoffs that no one wants to make a move....and in that case there will be a premium on talent.

Trading O'Reilly would be one of the worst managerial moves a GM could do at this point. Not only would his loss be huge, Stastny's deal expires after next year, and there's absolutely no guarantee he'll resign here. Maybe he wants to go home to St. Louis. Maybe St. Louis or another team makes him a dumb offer the Avs wouldn't match. That would leave Duchene, who alone as a top center would be bad enough, but he hasn't even proven himself as a top center,

I can't imagine Sherman would be stupid enough to trade O'Reilly without Stastny uner contract long term. Hoping Sgarbossa, Hishon, Olver, or whoever can be a solid 2nd line center, and Duchene will be a solid 1st line center would be beyond a gamble. I don't even think it has a decent chance at all the factors turning out positive.

Do you guys think we're gonna trade a dman in the next few days or so since we have too many? I'm guressing Wilson or o'byrne are trade bait.

Most likely as he has an expiring contract. He would be a good depth add to a contender.

Do you think we can get a second round pick for him?

At the deadline for a desperate team, maybe.... Most likely a mid level prospect and a late 3rd/4th is all we could get. I'd rather resign him, but with the defensemen we signed in the summer I doubt he sticks around.

I don't think it makes sense to trade O'Byrne right now, and probably not at any point, unless a team insists on him in a package. He's not going to return too much alone, and they only have 7 vet D anyway.

There's no need to rush Elliott or Barrie, and this would just put more pressure on a guy like Hunwick or Wilson.

Trading him around the deadline might be possible under certain circumstances, but my bet is they just keep him and probably let him walk in July. Wilson I think would make sense to move, but only if they bring in a better D than him somehow, and that may not happen this season.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Seems like every team is looking for defencemen. I believe DET and EDM are two teams with great motivation to upgrade the blueline.

Same old story, everyone needs D and no one is willing to move their d-men.

I,wonder if Kobasew will be traded if Avs think Olver could replace his spot.

Anyone on those bottom tier lines could be replaced...the question(s) is though, who would trade for him? Why would they trade for him? And what would they give up?

Olver could easily replace Kobasew. The better question is who would give up anything for a 4th liner like Kobasew at this point? I think teams would rather call someone up and give them a shot before giving up even a 7th or long shot prospect for Kobasew.

I like Kobasew on our 4th line. As long as he doesn't play too much, he's an effective fourth liner, forechecks hard, brings energy, is pretty reasonable defensively (better than Olver or Malone) and brings experience.

Don't like the rumors of his attitude, but if he kept that in check I'd be okay with him. There are some options out there if we went UFA... Dominic Moore (don't know if he plays this season) Langkow, and Arnott.

I believe it would be prudent to sign someone like Arnott (or similar) to fill that role just in case. If RoR comes back, they can play on the 4th line. Just means Olver would start the year with Erie as opposed to as a 13th forward.

Moore would be nice but I A) don't see him playing this season and B) can't see him wanting to play for the Avs

Olver would never get through the waivers.

Phoenix is close to making a deal for a 2nd line scoring centre according to Maloney.

Well that's good for them. If it's O'Reilly, I'd personally prefer OEL coming back...but we all know that isn't happening.

If O'Reilly went to Phoenix, I'd prefer Yandle (OEL would be impossible to pry away). Michalek could be a good get as well. If it is for Yandle it would have to be ROR+, Michalek would have to be Michalek+.

If ROR is involved I want Yandle and I don't want to give up our 1st.

Maybe ROR + Barrie/Elliot for Yandle + good center prospect.

Oh and hell no to Michalek for ROR

What about Michalek + Hanzel?

Phoenix doesn't really have anybody that screams NHL prospect IMO at center.

Good point about Michalek wanting to come back to Phoenix.

I wonder if a potential ROR and one of Barrie/Elliott for Yandle and Hanzal would be a fair swap?
