I didn't even realize the game was still going! I just wikipedia'd it and there are 18 expansions. Holy moly!

I thought EQII replaced it, which I never played? I am looking now and EQII has a ton of expansions. Where are all these people coming from? There are so many games in the world to play.

I remember being excited about EQ II before it came out, but then when I read about how they changed the gameplay from the 1st game, I lost all interest in it. I think the fact that the first EQ continues on is a testament to how well it was made and how dedicated its players are. It's just a shame that most people now think that WoW created/popularized the MMORPG when really it was Everquest and Ultima Online (which I never played) that were the proper beginnings. Hell, WoW owes a lot of what it is to Everquest.

My online gaming started with an online game network called The Sierra Network, which later became The Imagination Network. You would have to pay per hour you played and it was suuuuper expensive. I had to beg my mom to let me play it. Then it closed down.

Then I played a game called Magestorm on Gamestorm. I shed a tear when it was shut down.

Never played Ultima but I had a friend that did. It was EQ for me and it sucked me in for a good 2 years. Had a Wizard first, sold it on Ebay. Then I capped out a Druid when I had quit. Then WoW for One year, then a year Hiatus.. Then another couple years on again.

I had a ton of fun but I look back and realize I should have been outdoors actually doing stuff. Ha. I work in parks now to compensate for my days on a computer.

Wow. A guy got busted over here for a DUI, after crashing the Porsche he was test-driving into a truck carrying wine grapes. Who the heck would give the guy the keys? Someone is getting canned...

This sounds way too hilarious considering how serious the situation is.

LOL, no kidding. A drunk hitting future booze!

Fear not, though. They were only Zinfandel grapes and no one was seriously injured.

Well that's good. As long as enough grapes escaped injury a crisis was averted.

As I said I would the other day, I poked my head into Everquest today.

All my stuff is still there. all of it. After 8 years. My characters, my gear, my money. Everything. At the very least my Wizard has most or all of his stuff still (the stuff I can kind of remember). Although I do appear to have fewer inventory slots, so it is possible that I've lost some bags or something that I once had. I dunno. Still, that's hilariously awesome.

So far the only thing I've found that's unusual is that a Dark Elf Rogue I had created and played for like 10 minutes has mysteriously changed into (I think) a Wood Elf. Perhaps in my 8 year absence they re-jiggered the race/class compatibilities.
