Gazing into the crystal ball......

The summer's been an exercise in patience, optimism, anxiety and resignation so far - just curious what the general expectations from here til opening night are on what the Sabres may - or may not - do.

Signs a forward and trades a defenseman, but not necessarily for a pick.

Still think that DR is trying to make a big trade for a forward before the season starts and eventually pulls it off by the end of summer.... That is if they actually get **** worked out by then to have a season b/c if that drags on then I can see DR holding tight with the team he's got.

I voted he will stay with the current roster and add Girgs/Grigs to the top 9.

I voted he will make a trade for a forward, but realistically, he might not be able to make the kind of trade he wants. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up moving forward with out current roster.

More than one. Trades for a forward and either as part of that trade or separately a pick is involved along with a d-man.

Darcy will try to upgrade the roster, but I don't see any major changes. The question will be what will they do with the cap dollars that they won't be able to spend? Most likely a trade deadline deal.

I see a small move happening, such as signing Arnott or Hecht to be a bottom-6 center. I can't imagine Darcy actually believing a Hodgson-Ennis-Ott/Leino top-9 center corps being good enough. Beyond that, I think he'll try to make a splash in the trade market, but, like many of the posters here, I don't see Darcy parting with the assets any trade partner would actually want.

If he can't get a third line center he give Girgs a 9 game tryout centering Pominville and Leino. He really likes his high end prospects alot and doesn't want to part with them. He also likes Bobby Ryan but probably was floored by the asking price. He probably gave offers to Parise and Sutter and I'm sure there is an offer to Doan. I wouldn't be surprised if he made an inquiry about Briere. He will entertain trade offers initiated by other GMs but I think he is staying the course at the moment awaiting the outcome of the CBA. He wants to have options at his disposal if something comes up. So I think it will be quiet in Sabreland for a little while.

At this point, I'm guessing that he sticks with what he has even though he'd like to make at least one more move.

I voted for more than one.

Why not try to trade some of the de./picks/prospects for a center?

Also sign a free agent. It would be great imo to grab Arnott as a bottom 6 center until they know what Girgs and Grigs are going to be doing this year.

Also I think Regier should throw an offer sheet at Ryan O'Reilly. Just so they can make this off season a little more interesting. Obviously they would match it. But would it hurt just to try? Just my opinion.

What they should do, what Regier wants to do, and what Regier will do are three completely different things.

It seems like you voted by what you think they should do when the question was about what they will do.

I am sorry. I guess i did throw in there 1 thing out of his ordinary. I do think he will try and trade for a forward though. Also go after Arnott if Doan is unwilling to join the Sabres.
