It is a open forum. I have seen much worse trades, watch the personal attacks. It was a thought. Especially if Hammer goes back. He needs a change of scenery

Edmonton's defense is pretty weak. Why trade their best defenseman? That is stupid.

Figured Smid was #3-4. I don't follow the Oilers. Figured I would suggest a couple of solid prospects if EDM is still rebuilding. Didn't figure he was the equivilant of Shea Weber in EDM

Didn't figure as much. I know he is solid which is why I would like to see him in the Indianhead. Point taken.

Think more Jason Smith. That's what he is for this Oilers team. The blue-collar, tough as nails, take no prisoners SOB whose ideally a #3 but plays well on a top-pairing.

Why would Edmonton want these scraps, right now the Oilers need quality, not quantity.

There's nothing solid with what your offering.

Edmonton passes, not what they need. The only way Smid goes anywhere is for an upgrade on D. The only way Gagner goes anywhere is for either an upgrade at #2 centre or a solid #3 or better dman. Both are unlikely to happen, so they will most likely be staying put. On a side note, both Smid and Gagner seem to love being Oilers, so there's another reason why I don't see it happening.

Point taken, Smid stays an Oiler. Don't need 5-10 fans telling me the same thing. Was just a proposal, I understand the resounding no.

Just a quick question, why is Pirri in 90% of Hawks fans proposals? He seems to have some pretty decent upside. I understand if he is traded in a package for a very good player, but it seems foolish to move him in any other circumstance.

Yeah, those 2 prospects are far from being blue chip, Edmonton has plenty of quality prospects, many, more highly touted than these 2. Edmonton is looking for 2 or 3 for 1 deals, where they give the quantity and get the quality, not the other way around.

I don't think any of the reactions suggest us valuing him on anything close to a Weber level, just an adequate response to an underwhelming package. If you want a comparable, both stylistically and value-wise, think Marc Staal (Staal is better, but Smid is close to similar caliber). Imagine how Rags fans would react if you proposed the same deal for Staal.

Staal is a much better player than Smid IMO, but Smid is probably one of our best Dmen. No way we're trading him, especially for a poor package like the one being offered.

Staal is a good young dman, but to me, he is overrated. Smid is also a good young dman, but to me he is underrated. Both, are hard nosed, solid dmen. I'd love to have both, but there is no way that Staal is WAY better than Smid. He just hasn't proven all that more IMO.
