Well let's hope we can get our prospect to rise and get another first or second round pick.
IF this season ends up being a full lock out and the draft is set up like last time, even IF a new CBA is signed before the draft, I highly doubt anyone will move a first.

Too many chances for teams to land top 5/10.
Well that maybe so, however teams who are in the middle of the pack or below always want proven talent before an unproven talent as they believe they have enough in the tank to make a run for the cup and what not.

Agreed LR, but this could be a different draft altogether.
The % chance of a top pick for a top team is a rare opportunity.

Oh for sure. I dont think anyone in the top 10 will be moving baring an offer they can't refuse. However this draft is fairly forward heavy and has a LOT of intriguing prospects hence I would really love if we get another first rounder or couple of second rounders.
I am seriously jealous and worried about the habs as they have around 3 second rounders in the upcoming draft lol.

But thats the issue right now LR ,where teams finished last season has far far less barring on where a team drafts if they do a repeat of the Crosby draft year, thats what i'm getting at.
You add elite talent regardless of position and it will take care of itself down the road.
Leafs once had Fuhr and Potvin in the minors in 92-93, they were able to get a much needed top line player due to the depth at Goal. Hopefully we can be in a similar position soon with our D. Hey I respect you for saying you see the logic in this, I recall debating you on the merits of drafting a D man this summer, it was fun and fustrating at the same time. It's all good.
This is true. If all the potential first line centres are gone (although there are tons if we include the Domi's and Kujawinskis) I would love to scoop up Shinkaruk or Drouin.

I hate to marry myself to a prospect this early, but it is obvious Monahan and Shinkaruk are impressive players, especially in International play when you play against your peers.
Right now I would love Shinkaruk to don the Leafs Jersey, this kid has so much jam, something about him that screams hockey player. Will be interesting where Button puts him, I have a feeling near the top.

Ah okay, understood.
Also I personally think Drouin is the guy we go for, that guy has insane skills. Not for scoring but also dishing the pucks.
now this is interesting:
Slava Malamud @SlavaMalamud
Grigo was consulted by the #Sabres about @Makki1993, gave him a glowing review. Says he was initially a bit upset about no Russians in Buff

I agree, but I'd prefer Monahan for obvious reasons. He would be the perfect fit here.
Mark Masters @markhmasters
Seth Jones left Portland's game midway thru 3rd period last night to catch flight to Atlanta & then Buffalo; only got 90 mins of sleep
Hunter Shinkaruk notched a goal and 3 assists last night for 4 points. While I'd rather us draft other players due to position he will be high on my draft list. You can't teach the talent he has.

I have been on record as saying I don't want to marry myself to a prospect this early on, but Hunter Shinkaruk is a guy that is making it difficult on me to not to.
I'll say it again, this guy screams 100% all hockey player regardless if he was 6'6 or 5'11, some guys have the it quality, and Hunter has it in spades.
