I love how it's being reported that the Pats have signed an Olympic track star while conveniently leaving out that this guy played college football in the SEC. I know not everyone is reporting it that way, but you get the point.

Yup probably would have been a 3rd/4th round pick. I think he'll make the team through special teams and then when he learns more and more throughout the season he'll get some carries
Demps was nasty. He was a burner for Florida. His college career just slumped downwards since he finished up last 2 yrs with garbage Brantley and not Tebow-national championship level team.
Its crazy how many great college players go undrafted. Vontaze Burfict didn't get picked because he had a slow combine and *****ed about ASU coaches and he was 3 yrs removed from being the #1 overall prospect out of high school.
BYU had a top 10 college football lineman and 2 year all american and he didn't get drafted.
Montel Harris wouldn't have gotten picked if he entered the draft and hes the best ACC running back ever.
UNC (made headlines for problems under Davis) had about 5 studs go undrafted this year and I don't think that Page-Moss hooked on as a UFA.
Fletcher from BC was a great corner and didn't get picked, Cliff Harris from Oregon went undrafted, Blake Gideon from Texas didn't get picked TONS of unreal football players slip through all 7 rounds its confusing (and I'm not getting into QBs which are understandable why a Keenum or Moore go undrafted.)

Demps is a great pickup. Way better than Vereen.
Read a scouting report that he can't run in between the tackles. Lets not overrate him as i think Vereen is going to start the opener and rightfully so. The guys you listed were the good college players but that doesn't always translate to the NFL hell look at Tebow.
Also Montel Harris is not even close to the best ACC running back ever. I'll take Tiki Barber, Warrick Dunn, Lamont Jordan, CJ Spiller. And when talking about just BC i'll wake Mike Cloud and William Green over him off the top of my head.
Lastly, Burfict fell because he often got into fights at practice, ran a 5.09 at the combine, and was routinely suspended by ASU. To put that in perspective, Dontari Poe (6'3, 346 lbs) ran a 4.87...

Only time i can think that he would have had a chance to is when Brady went down week one first drive against KC. Even then i think he just looked ahead and praised Cassel's ability. Usually he just gives the other guys credit.
Great pickup. I wonder if the writing is on the wall for Woodhead.
From what I heard yesterday, Demps is a good pickup, but will be a work in progress? If someone needs to be worried, it's probably one of the wideouts that was getting special teams action (Stallworth, maybe Slater).

From the clips I've seen, Demps can move but doesn't have much versatility or smash to his game. I don't think he's making Vereen nervous (not that Vereen is a sure thing). Demps is probably going to see a lot of action on ST.
Stallworth always seemed like a longshot to me, like this year's Torry Holt. With Lloyd, Welker, Edelman, Gaffney, and Slater virtual locks, it leaves Branch and Stallworth as the twilighters who know Brady's playbook to battle for the last spot. Could see Demps replacing Slater or beating both of those guys (speculation is that he's been guaranteed a spot on the team).
Random thought: I'm a bit surprised that they haven't tried Brandon Bolden at FB yet.

LOL. This is a good post. I cannot completly refute the BC Green and Cloud mentions.
However theres about 5 or so BC guys who are close Callendar, Knight and even Omari Walker have a shout for being BC's best ever. But only Harris did it in a better league with no Temple and Rutgers to load up on.
As for your ACC mentions...well all those guys shared time. Dunn had a thunder guy to his lightning (I can't remember the name but Dunn didn't get goal line carries.) Jordan and Barber ditto Jordan sucked his senior year at Mary too and by the time he was mid 20s barely touched the ball. Jordan was still young when he came to us and did nothing. Lamonts not a good example. And Barber and Dunn are classic complementary speed guys.
Putting Harris's 3 years in the ACC above them is hardly a stretch. I know its debatable but still.
I do not know where your loyalties lie. BC is not my team (lifelong Syracuse fan and alum) but I grew up 2 miles from campus and have followed them my whole life and love it when they are big time since college football is my favorite sport.
That defillipo jurkoff deserves to be shot for his overwhelming racism and firing J Jags. This year BC gets VT, ND, the U, and Clemson at home. 2 or 3 of those games won't sell out.
And it'll be because the athletic director is a racist with a napoleon complex kicking black kids off the team left and right. Last year they boot their entire secondary in a year they have the best linebacker in the history of college football (Keuchly you can debate that but Luke was amazing) back for his junior season. This year they boot Harris because he complained about his surgery. Harris didn't even fail drug tests like Honey Badger at LSU he got the boot for calling BC out for running him into the ground and ****ing up his surgery.
That program was gaining so much momentum and we would have had big time ACC football throwing punches with the Florida St's off the world here in Boston but defillippos ego flushed it all down the toilet. Guy is pure scrum. And BC isn't my team and I'd love to spit on Gene DF for being so racist.
And it has nothing to do with high standards Notre Dame lowered theirs to let Floyd play on a DUI last year its defilippos ego not high standards like a BYU would have.
Burfict ran a slow combine and called Erickson and his staff horrible coaches. It was enough for him to not get picked. But he's a talent and still only 21 its just crazy he didn't get picked at all. Its like if Clowney at South Carolina declares for the 2014 draft and goes unpicked its just hard to fathom.

My friend has the same thoughts about Stallworth that he's a longshot to make it and is just here for competition in camp.
I think Slater is garbage (like Lionel Hollins kid on the Celtics just here on name) so I'd love to see Demps replace him since Belichick praises Slater left and right.
But Demps had a career at Florida that slumped downwards. Just like his team. And I can't put it all on him. Usually those speed RBs need to be complimentary guys and put in positions to succeed. So I like him in a Kevin Faulk role.
Punk? Again I have to ask, how old are you? Gene deserves a lot of criticism for the football program in recent years, but he also brought stability to it for many years following the gambling scandal. Ultimately, I'm not sad to see him go, but if you look back on his entire time at BC, he did a lot of good things.

Fair enough,
Not me team so not a real fan but lets ****in go BC **** racist GDF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to hometown team coming up Im pullen for them to beat the U week 1 and win 2/3 aginst VT/ND/Clemson.
GO BC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
End of the day I got nothing but respect for BC throwing down big time in hte ACC. GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First, unless you have information that he is a racist or has ever acted like a racist, its not really fair to call someone that.
next, Spaziani kicked you're boy Montel off the team not the AD. As we see with Miles at LSU thats up to the Head Coach.
Jags was told not to interview for other jobs. Its his own fault that after BC took a flyer on him giving him the keys to a top 40 program he showed disloyalty and interviewed for a job after ONE season. he is the only one to blame and personally i wouldn't want a guy like that leading my program.
The fact that you call Luke Kuechly the best Linebacker ever really makes me question your judgement

I really respect your opinion so theres little rebuttle. Honey Badger failed tests for weed its sad IMO he got the boot for that. Feel free to disagre though,
LK was unreal.
He was filth.
Jags threw his name in hte hat for one of the top 30 jobs at his profession(NFL coachin job.) Not a cardinal sin. And if BC acts like BYU wants to act like it is its them being stupid they aren't Notre Dame or BYU. Boston aint ****in Provo U aint on a Mission.
Good Luck to BC regardless its a great program and I love them being big time!!!! End of the day I got mad love for kids who put up with GDF's racism so GO BOSTON COLLEGE RIP IT INT HE ACC NOTHIN BUT LOVE FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!! No hating here a kid puts up wit GDfs racism good for him big respect from me nothing but big wishes.

And that gambling scandal was 3o yrs ago weve all seen goodfellas get a better example pls.
I don't feel like responding to the rest of your garbage, but a couple things here:
1. Goodfellas wasn't referencing the gambling scandal that I was referring to. Goodfellas was made in 1990. The gambling scandal I was referring to happened in 1996, 16 years ago. Gene DeFilippo was named AD in 1997. He brought stability and respectability to the football program up until the last few years. He had a pretty good run.
2. Why can't you tell me how old you are? You certainly talk a big game on the keyboard, calling Gene DeFilippo a racist when he's not the one who kicked Harris off the team. I guess calling people racists fits your agenda though, considering the ridiculous things you've said about the current Red Sox ownership.
3. If you're gonna respond, how about you try limiting it to one post and try not to write a novel filled with 1000 different points.
