Horror/Survival Games

Big fan of Resident Evil, and I am thinking about buying the Dead Space series, but I honestly don't know many games in the genre. What are some games that you could recommend for XBox 360, PS3 or PC?

The condemned franchise should be what you're looking for

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
http://store.steampowered.com/app/57300/

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239200/

Outlast
http://store.steampowered.com/app/238320/

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was really good ...haven't played the others yet.

The Penumbra series is supposed to be good, too. its made by the same people that made Amnesia. (was made before the Amnesia games)

Penumbra Black Plague Gold Edition
http://store.steampowered.com/app/22120/

Penumbra Overture
http://store.steampowered.com/app/22180/

the Amnesia and Penumbra games are currently on sale @ Gamefly but i don't think they are Steam keys ...so that kinda sucks if you care about that. pretty cheap tho.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent $4.99
http://digital.gamefly.com/#!/downlo...descent/150610

Penumbra Collection $1.99
http://digital.gamefly.com/#!/downlo...lection/151520

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs $7.99
http://digital.gamefly.com/#!/downlo...r-pigs/5006605

you can probably also use their coupon code for another 25% off too ... GFDJAN25

says its for select titles, but it'll probably work http://digital.gamefly.com/#!/pc/onsale?price=1&sort=3

State of Decay might be of interest as well.

Dead Space is pretty decent and should satisfy you. The first one is the best imho

Ever played Silent Hill ? Because if you're a fan of Resident Evil then you should , unless you already have of course. If not then get Silent Hill HD collection (I , II ,III) then get The Room , Origins , Homecoming and Downpour

Funny you ask, I just watched the Silent Hill movie and really enjoyed it. I understand it's based loosely off of the video game. I will definitely check that out.

I don't think you will be disappointed.Personally i prefer Silent Hill to Resident Evil quite a bit. It's much darker , grittier and scarier

The concepts and art direction of some enemies/bosses is disturbing. However thought about that stuff has a twisted mind.

Btw i heavily recommend playing those types of game alone , in the dark and with headphones. The immersion and tension is so much better then if you play it during a sunny afternoon when you can hear kids scream outside and whenyour wife is cooking in the kitchen. This doesn't just apply to Silent Hill but to every horror games and movies.

I played Amnesia that way and i had to take breaks eveyr hour or so because it was too intense

Not mentioned in this thread, Alan Wake and American Nightmare.

Kind of a different direction, but State of Decay is pretty enjoyable.

Like Izzy just said - Alan Wake - bar none. I bought a 360 simply to play this game and it was worth the 300 dollars at the time. Easily.

The first Dead Space is awesome, the 2nd and 3rd are useless. They hit gold once and thought the same scares would continue, if you're used to what's coming it's not.

I actually thought Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare got pretty intense at times. Not sure scary but "get the F away from me" as you run for your life. The first Resistance Fall of Man, had the same feeling.

It's a shame the final few missions and especially the ending of Condemned 2 were absolute **** as the first half of the game was amazing.

Condemned 1 is great and 2 is also fantastic up until those last couple missions, I agree.

Dead Space is okay... I haven't tried Alan Wake yet (on my damn backlog forever...)...

Alan Wake is great. A lot of questions and psychologically thrilling. Great storyline.

The level where you run from the bear is one of my favorite moments in video games.

I'll agree to those. I loved Alan Wake. That game is the only reason I regret buying a PS3. Though the game will probably run on my laptop.

This -- I didn't play it until like 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. The engine feels particularly smooth, wish more games felt like it.
