Happ was alright. He made some mistakes, but he also got unlucky and was the victim of some bad/poorly timed stuff in the field.

His line was:

5.1 IP, 7H, 1BB, 5K, 4ER.

He threw a ton of strikes (49 out of 82 pitches) too.

How many teams have depth to replace 18 injured players over the course of the year?

If you would rather stay away from the debate, then don't reply to a Snider post.

I wasn't trying to start a debate either. I was just posting what he did tonight.

In the BLUE JAYS GDT. Don't see how it matters here.

He is a former Jays player. Your point is invalid.

so your saying 7 pitchers on the 60 day dl isn't easily replaceable? Clearly they have to anticipate injuries woodman.

Look Farrell the season is lost. The Rajai Davis experience is over let the kids play Gose should be in the lineup everyday to see what they have.

If you want Davis in the lineup then platoon him with Cooper at DH against lefties

Nope point is very valid for that reason. Key word being former.

Maybe the new strategy for us should be to downplay every prospect as though they suck?

Gose comes up with mega-hype and expectations and gets a resounding "meh"

Jenkins comes up with zero hype and the general consensus that he kinda sucks and is bordering on bust territory and he pitches well.

So in the spirit of that, I have no faith in Travis d'Arnaud. He's a hack catcher that will have no place in a major league lineup come 2013.

I posted about Francisco being third in the Astros lineup. Want to criticize me for that?

There have been numerous postings about former Jays players and other players in both the GDT and the discussion. Yet you have not whined about those.

I really don't understand it.

Not to mention D'Arnaud will also have to unseat a face of the franchise to get any kind of regular playing time.

ok guys, cool it on the "what's appropriate for the thread."

ex-Jays are suitable discussion material within reason (bringing up a guy who was in the Jays system for a few weeks several years ago and who has no "real" ties to the team would probably be pushing it)

Snider is quasi-relevant since it was a recent trade.

But with that said, I don't want to get caught in the trap of recapping his every game in Pittsburgh as a means to constantly shift evaluation on the trade. If we want to look back at year's end on his whole body of Pirate work and judge things then, fine. But waffling between "good trade/ok trade/bad trade" with his every game in black and gold is going to drive everyone nuts.

so just a little moderation (the "not too little, not too much" kind. Not the "play by the rules or I will ****ing ban you" kind) would go a long way.

thanks.

Because the Snider stuff is finally starting to calm down. Why bring it back up now? It's been discussed now.

So you don't think d'Arnaud will have to prove himself and will be just placed in the starting catching spot over arencibia. That's how your sarcasm comes across as... Am I wrong in assuming this? If not then wow.

Positive notes on the night.

Jenkins looked great tonight in his debut and Hech with his first big league hit.

I agree with that.

My intention wasn't to show that we lost the Snider trade. It is way too early to tell that and even at the end of the year it's too early to tell. I have been watching statracker instead of the ball game so I just posted what Snider did. Outside his first hit the the Pirates, that is my only posting about him and will be my last until the end of the year.
