Adam McQuaid

What's his value, what would it cost the Leafs to land him?

He is a part of Boston's starting 6 D, I would think that if they were going to trade McQuaid that it would only be in a deal where they upgrade. I am sure they would add a pick or prospect to upgrade, but there is just no reason to trade him unless that is what they are doing.

In my opinion, Toronto would have no interest in giving up what it would take for them to get McQuaid nor should they. I know a lot of TO fans say they have a lot of depth on D, and maybe they do, but the quality of that depth is pretty low going by the way the team has played defense over the last few years. They would have better luck trading for a D from a team that has excess NHL calibre D, Boston isn't that team.

The Bruins would be extremely reluctant to move McQuaid - or any of their top-five-D - because that would mean two rookies in their top-six (or one of XLB or Aaron Johnson seeing consistent minutes).

Unless a superior defender is coming back in the deal (or a significant overpayment by the acquiring team), it is very unlikely that Boston's Darth Quaider finds himself in a different uniform.

However, if Hamilton/Krug/another rookie proves himself and XLB or Johnson exceeds expectations - McQuaid might be a piece the Bruins are willing to part with for upgrades elsewhere.

I'd be more willing to trade Boychuk than Lone Wolf. He has this 'presence' about him, perfect fit for the B's 3rd pairing imo.

You do not want this to happen.

You mean he's crazy and snaps over anything ?

Either way I'd take him.

McQuaid is just starting a team frienly contract ,and is very valuable member of the Bruins D. The only way I can see them moving him is in a package deal with multiple players moving both ways

No. Im not saying he's "untouchable", but he's the B's 3rd pairing dman. He's signed to a cheap contract, plays solid defensively, hits hard, & loves to scrap. He's a 'lunch pale' kind of guy, great fit in blue collar Boston. Unless McQuaid is going out in a package for a clear upgrade either up front, or at the blueline, I dont see him getting traded.

It'd take a lot to get him out of Boston. He's part of their starting 6 and a lot could hinge on how well rookies like Hamilton and Krug play.

Matt Read?

I would guess thats pretty good value... We just don't have the luxury to trade any D.

Wellwood and a 3rd definitely isn't worth it/

If the Bruins happened to be sellers at the deadline (unlikely) probably a 2nd and later round pick would probably get it done.

Bruins wont be trading him though so it doesn't matter too much

I can't see them trading him unless its for a upgrade...
Great contract, great +/-, tough as nails.

Could possibly get a first for him at the deadline from a contender.

In this draft? Doubt it.

If we are selling, why are we selling our young, cheap, less valuable players?

McQuaid is one of those players who is more valuable to the team he is on; he is a tough, 3rd pairing defensive defenseman. They don't have much trade value.

I said it didn't matter because they wouldn't trade him, but thats what they probably could get for him...

I think the "One tough Hombre" side of Quaider has a value that is hard to put a price on, and it's not the kind of attribute that teams pay a lot for. To the team he's on he's worth way more than most teams would be willing to pay.
