Olympics: International perception of the games?

I was four years ago in Beijing and I wasn't exactly happy despite the claims of greatness I kept to hear everywhere (mainly because it's still a dictature?).

This time I spent only 9 days and had way less tickets but I can definitely say that London did a SUPERB job in these games: very good transports, clear indications, nice venues, excellent job by the volounteers, crowds cheering for every single athlete in a true Olympics spirit.

Only flaw: ticketing system and prices. No wonder there were a lot of empty seats even in major events. Still, even Beijing had problems with empty seats...

Way to go UK, congrats to the British fellas in here, you did a fantastic job and this edition of the Olympics was with few doubts the best ever.

Is the Paralympics getting much coverage abroad?

They have really been well received here, with most events sold out. The coverage on Channel 4 here isn’t quite what the BBC were offering for the Olympics, but it is still pretty comprehensive.

I am just wondering how much attention these are getting elsewhere?

I didn't watch any events personally, but I think there's been some tv coverage of the sports that Finland succeeds in. Leo-Pekka Tähti is a pretty well known athlete here. All the Finnish medalists are obviously mentioned in sports news. I was in Germany & Sweden last week and their medalists were also reported on the news. I've also heard that the attendance was very good.
