Still no confirmation that #Isles move to Brooklyn in 2015 is a PERMANENT relocation. Could be some news (and spin) at presser

They should sell PBR at games and have a Williamsburg Bridge or L Train shoulder patch.

When I grew up in NYC anything north of the Bronx was upstate. I live 50 miles north of the city and when people come to visit us from the City they say they are going upstate! I don't consider us "Upstate."

Buffalo is definitely not upstate but Western New York. North of Albany, I consider Northern New York. Then there is central New York (Syracuse, Rochester, etc). "Upstate" is a worthless term.

And, not to bring up a sore point, the fact that (if the league wasn't self-destructing) fans in Albany get to see Buffalo games on MSG (Rangers only if Buffalo is not on) is absurd. Albany is not Western New York!

Ive been fighting that battle for years.

Utica and Albany are Rangers areas, and lesser extent Devils (AHL teams in both cities).

Sabres territory doesnt really start til about Syracuse and even then its 50/50.

Im pretty sure the Sabres broadcasting territory on MSG starts north of Ulster County, which is basically north of Poughkeepsie.

Its a joke.

This is ****ing annoying. As a Knicks fan I'm already pissed off that in 20 years there'll be no Knicks fans in Brooklyn.

How this is different than the Nets: Not even Jay-Z can make the Isles cool.

We're strictly talking about geography here. The team isn't called the New York Long Islanders, its the New York Islanders.

Point being, due to the fact they play in Brooklyn now, means they technically don't have to change the name because Brooklyn is part of the geographical land mass known as Long Island.

They should just remain the NYI.

The Yankees arent the Bronx Yankees, and the Mets arent the Queens Mets. That aint the damn Flushing skyline in the logo either.

Only reason the Nets are Brooklyn is for the borough. It wouldve been dumb for the borough to get their first franchise in 50 years and go through all the **** to not have them named Brooklyn.

I can see a logo tweak, but other than that, everything stays the same. Brooklyn is still on an Island, regardless of whether its Long Island or not (which is absurd). Its ****ing geography.

LA Lakers, Utah JAZZ.

The precedant is there for teams to keep their names when they move even when the name has nothing to do with the city they are located in.

Mayor Bloomberg's presence at today's press conference would seem to indicates #Isles want to get to Brooklyn as quickly as they can.

I'm a Brooklynite. Born, raised and have been living here all my life.

With that said, I'm not abandoning my love for the Rangers. All the success and tribulations...get thrown to the wayside just because the fishsticks move to my back yard?!

ABSOLUTELY...NOT!!

With that said, LET'S GO RANGERS!

So Islanders/Nets will have their own network like MSG Rangers/Knicks....BSN = Brooklyn Sports Network or Bull **** Network?

Multiple sources are reporting that the New York Islanders have agreed to join the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center, starting in 2015, when the Isles' lease at Nassau Coliseum runs out. The decision to move west along the Long Island Railroad will be detailed at a 1 p.m. press conference.

In addition, sources tell NetsDaily that Bruce Ratner will take a minority position in the Islanders. Ratner and associated investors own 20 percent of the Nets and 55 percent of the arena.

Wang loves his long-term deals RT @WharnsbyCBC: #Isles have 25-year agreement to play at Barclays Center, beginning in 2015-16.
In related news, Rick DiPietro has been extended through 2062.
