i think i'm pretty correct in my assumption that if this lockout doesn't get resolved quickly that our game on the 28th against the stars will be canceled???
Think they said they'll start canceling preseason games this week. Figures, the last time I was at a preseason NHL game in SA was in Sept 94 right before that lockout (they had preseason cause the CBA didn't expire til October).
Will be interesting to see the NHL players we do see when they're sent down.
Have to watch those NHL players on other teams, notably Okc. They are loaded, as is Charlotte. There will be very little, if any, difference between the rampage roster with or without the lockout.
Just got my email from the Rampage saying the game was indeed canceled:
"We are disappointed for our fans that we will not be able to host an NHL game between the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars this season," said Ryan Snider, director of business operations for the Rampage. "We will continue talks this season with the Panthers to try and bring an NHL preseason game to San Antonio in the future."
Exactly, good news we'll see some new good players. Bad news they will mostly be on the other side.
You would have seen Gudbranson if he wasn't injured. I wish Huberdeau could have been eligible to play in the AHL, he is ready for some pro experience.
You are getting Howden, Shore, McFarland and Petrovic in their first full year in the pro's which should be exciting since they are some of our top prospects.
Also you might be surprised with the play of Deveaux and Jacques if you are not familiar with them. Both guys are huge and physically intimidating, and both scored 40 points last season.
Oh yeah, we'll definitely get some nice lookers, but compared to OKC & Charlotte...OKC is getting at least Eberle & Nugent-Hopkins and maybe Hall when he gets healthy while Charlotte is getting Faulk & Skinner, yikes!
And I'm interested in seeing Wellman myself. I remember Deveaux from his days in Chicago & Toronto so it will be nice he's on our side, y'know, as long as he's learned a lesson from last season after his hit on Fleischmann.

Indeed. If the rampage can hold their own against those teams with the young superstars, I would imagine they can make some noise if the lockout only lasts a couple of months and those players are gone. One can only hope.
Don't forget about the Phantoms with Couts and Schenn as well...

If this lockout does drag out I don't know if they would move any of our home games back to Florida or not. Any games against Charlotte would be a possiblity. As a season ticket holder, nothing against my parent team, I hope they don't. But if they offered a special ticket package I'd be game to go. And any of the season ticket holders from Florida wanting to come here for any game I'd be one of the first to offer one of my seats.
Since Tyson was on roster at deadline and end of the year he could sign an AHL contract to play here during the lockout. We could use him with these other teams having these good players on there squads.
All those who wanted Jacob to play in Florida this year, this surely will show if he's ready for it.
Love love LOVE your blogs Nate... I find my heart racing, literally, reading through your summation. I can't wait for the season to start, but I am nervous about other teams getting so much help. 2 weeks and we shall see. Win or lose, to THEM on the opener, and I am a happy lady! I'll try to control my hatred towards that other team this season. Who am I kidding, no I wont! Anyways, what's better than hockey? Nothing!
Alexander Calloway from the Litter Box crew gives a different perspective of what the Rampage team might look like this season. He thinks Shore and Howden are in the top six and Robak is the number one d-man. Panther fan bias?
When did we pick up Francois Bouchard? Nice pick up...
He's in camp on a try out.
Regarding the litterboxcats article. There isn't anything in there I disagree with. Howden is easily top 6. I have SHore where he is simply because he's the only player on the team with the skill set to be that top PK, grinder type. The good part is he has offensive skill to go along with his speed and tenacity on the forecheck. I do think he ends up in the top 6 before the season ends.
Re: Robak This particular team doesn't really have a "#1 d-man", IMO. Robak is the best two-way blueliner on the roster, no doubt. But Caruso and Yonkman are top notch AHL shutdown defensemen. Robak is very good defensively, just not at their level. They don't possess his offensive ability, however. The top 4 on the Rampage are interchangeable and matchups will dictate which pairing gets more minutes. I would venture a guess that their TOI won't be too far apart.
Hey Rampage STH's, have you received your season ticket cards and jersey yet? My account rep called me two weeks ago to confirm my shipping address but I haven't received anything yet.
