Good man. I understand exactly what you mean by the Briere trade.

I also commend your bravery in the face of some of your own fanbase when you declare Giroux > Myers.

Also, I offer my condolences for you on the Leino front.

That said, I'd love to know what the whole fascination is with Buffalo and Briere. I understand he was an important part of your franchise and someone loved by the fanbase, but in his latter years he's not exactly capable of being that "x" factor to lift a team into the playoffs. What he does once there notwithstanding, I don't feel like it'd be beneficial for Buffalo to pursue Briere. He's more valuable to the Flyers than to the Sabres, and any realistic price Buffalo would have to pay for him would likely be too much.

All of this is pointless anyway. Briere won't waive, and there are other factors involved on the developmental side of the organization that will keep Briere here through the end of his contract.

If the Sabres had kept Briere along with Vanek, they probably could have won a cup. Or at least contended for it again. Fans aren't letting that go, and they're not patient enough to wait for Grigorenko/Girgensons/Ennis/Hodgson to pan out. Add that on to the fact that the Sabres have lost two playoff series in a row thanks to underperformers, and you've got the ex-girlfriend syndrome with Briere.

Yeah, Flyers fans have a similar lust for Bobby Ryan since he's a local. There are some people here willing to gut our depth to get him.
