Not much, I make over 16 bucks a hour at the Security job (its a state job so benefits are nice)...the other is a manufacturing job. Starting wage is 12 bucks a hour. But if I move up I can go to 16-22 (in manufacturing that is) a hour if I stay there long enough.

I had that type of life in the first year of my postdoc research stint in Japan, when I had not yet finished my thesis and was working on it every evening, plus Saturdays and half of Sundays, while also doing my Japanese homework at every meal. Came very close to burning out myself.
My health is ok. I have lost 20 lbs since starting which isnt bad since I was about 20 lbs overweight when I started. Its not the best way to lose weight but it worked. If I can get 3-4 hours of sleep a day I'm usually pretty good. I take time off when I can to recharge. Weekends mostly. But I'm not doing bad so far, most didn't think I could make it past the first week. And I think I'm on month 5 now. Only been one REAL bad night so far.

Good stuff. Toronto needs more Habs fans.

Hopefully you find a good place to live.

I mean this in a nice way. Get the **** off HF and sleep. If you don't you'll **** yourself up eventually. Howling do you plan on doing this? It's far from American dream IMO.

Unfortunately when you do it long enough you get fed up(as you said, repetitive). They aren't bad jobs, good honest work. The only problem is I went back to school so I could find different work, I think I have it set in my head it's the past for me unless the fit is perfect. At this point with 2 years left(after doing 3 years already) I think i'll just finish and enter the job force quicker. I don't blame you for doing it your way though. I'd rather full time school+part time work at this point though.
yeah i see your point, but the salary is too good to lose all that money. If I were younger, I would probably go full time schooling, but i'm 27 now and losing 3 years of salary would be a step back for my goals

I'm currently working on a Canadian Pacific train (the track evaluation car). We get to travel all across Canada and parts of the US. I started in Chicago, then Milwaukee and Minneapolis. I'm currently stuck in Enderlin, a small North Dakota town. We have some problem with our equipment and are waiting for a part. Once we get it fixed, we'll be heading to Moose Jaw, Calgary and then Vancouver.

Pretty cool intership if you ask me

I'm looking at doing this for about a year more if possible. We will see where we are at then. Most didn't think I would make it past week one. including me. Weekends are my catch up point. I usually sleep a bit, but I can't sleep very long. I have a family to take care of and hfboards to read!
