Pizza line VS LOD

The pizza vs WCE thread got me thinking... Does the pizza line compare to the Legion of Doom? Lindros Leclaire and Renberg?

Prime vs prime of each line, then it's LOD.

However, all three of L, L and R were only dominant one season: 1994-95, the shortened lockout year. LeClair wasn't there in 1993-94, and Renberg wasn't as dominant post 1995.

Pizza had more longevity.

I'm going to say the Pizza line just because, as mentioned above, the Legion of Doom never had one season where they all clicked together and dominated as a trio like the Pizza line did.

Pizza Line easily. They had 3 of the top 5 players at C/LW/RW.

LOD easily for me. I think people are to caught up on points. The LOD was a damn intimidating physically dominant line. One line beat you with skill the other was skilled but also mean and nasty.

Pick for that one specific year, LoD. Pick for anything other than that and it's easily Pizza.

LOD was not all about points, as they would physically dominate the opposing team.

LOD for me, even if they were short lived.

They were scary in more ways than one.

Legion of Doom. Think about it this way: If you put Pizza Line-era Spezza, Heatley, and Alfredsson on the ice against prime Lindros, LeClair, and Renberg, the LOD would absolutely demolish the pizza line.

Yeah, the LOD would outscore you and then beat you up afterwards. Well, Lindros would, anyway.

Edit: Should clarify. I consider the LOD to be Lindros, Leclair and whoever (at one point it was Zubrus). Should also point out that Lindros was, arguably, the league's best center after Mario's retirement and Leclair was pretty inarguably it's best left wing for about 5 years. Nobody on the Pizza line was the best player at his position.

It's LOD. You can't discount Renberg, yep is rookie year was during LODs peak and he scored 38 goals and 44 assist for 82 points, he followed it up with 57 points in 47 games the next half season. Renberg as an intracle part of that line.

During there primes

Lindros>>>>>>Spezza
Renberg <<<Heatley
Leclair >>> Alfredson

The only thing the pizza line has going for it is longevity.

Preferred the Pizza Line. Longevity being a major factor.

What a silly post. Using multiple greater than / less than symbols when they aren't warranted really makes your post look stupid.

I believe it's warranted...

Lindros>Spezza
Renberg<Heatley
Leclair>alfredson

Just doesn't do justice to the difference in their play. Lindros was worlds better than Spezza, healthy had a sizable advantage over Renberg and Leclair a sizable advantage over alfredson. I don't see how the post makes him look " stupid" it's accurate IMO.

Agreed. LOD dominated the lockout shortened 1994-95 (before running into Scott Stevens in the playoff that is). But that was really the only season they were together and dominant. So I voted Pizza Line, which produced at a high level for more than one (shortened) season.

IMO, LOD is overrated because they had such a cool name

So you are in fact advocating the fact that Lindros was much much much much much better than Spezza? He used 6 greater than symbols so I'm assuming 5 of them were used to suggest "much" better.

Lindros was a great player and he was definitely much better than Spezza, but he wasn't nearly THAT much better than Spezza was. His best season would have been 82g, 130pts in 1996 and Spezza's best would have been 82g, 109pts in 2006.

Granted, Lindros brings a lot more to the table than Spezza does outside of goals and was the complete power-forward package, but to say that Lindros was THAT much better than Spezza is flat out inaccurate.

The Leclaire-Alfredsson one is just a joke. His best 82 game season (or any extrapolation using points per game) was 97 points.

Alfredsson actually scored 103 points in 77 games, good for a 110 point pace over 82 games and plays a complete two-way game and yet Leclair is >>> Alfredsson?

The difference between Heatley and Renberg is the same difference as Leclair over Alfredsson?

Please.

Seriously, Alfredsson is getting underrated big time in this thread. At the peak of the pizza line, Alfredsson was a better producer, and a better 2-way player (he was the team's main PKer, and was 4th in selke voting, IIRC). Yes, Leclair had in the physical edge, but that's it.

Also, like I posted in the other thread, the pizza line was 1-2-3 in playoff scoring in '07. I checked back to '97, and its the only time a line has accomplished this, let alone the fact that they were on the losing team.
