Chicago would be a perfect fit. They are absolutely loaded on young talent/top prospects and can afford to move some of their guys for established talent. Habs could be interested in moving Plekanec if Eller improves, but only for a good return.
But yet again, some months from now the situation could look a little different. It might look like there won't even be a season for one. Or it could look like Eller has taken another sizeable step forward as a 2nd line candidate. Or that Gomez has rebounded (doubtful, but who knows). Or that the Habs are clearly headed for a non-playoff season again. In which case the present-day fantasies of tank-fans and the pre-season proclamations of Bergevin become afterthoughts, a new paradigm emerges.
Until Eller has proven that he can take the next step... until Desharnais proves that last year wasn't fluke... until Galchenyuk is ready to be a player in the NHL... then and only then should the Habs remotely consider trading Plekanec. Until then, I'll believe Bergevin.
