He's going to have to get his act together eventually. I've never seen a more dangerous player on the ice.

I don't want to harbor it so much to the point where his physical play is basically taken away from him. He needs to learn when to and when not to do things, but he still needs to be physical and play on edge.

Trying to hurt other players and playing physical are two very different things. Matteau often tries to hurt others instead of just playing physical, something he usually does well.

After his suspension, the coach said he wouldn't accept such things. He risks being suspended by his own team if he goes on like this I think.

You`ve never seen Artyukhin, obviously.

He has to take the foot off the throttle, no doubt.

One thing I don`t understand is how can he afford to play like that with his father behind the bench (AC in Blainville).

His dad is an assistant coach, he'd have to do something blatantly stupid I'd think for him to be suspended by his own team.

He has done it twice so far. Knowing Houle as a coach, he won't let it go because his dad is an assistant coach...

Internet hyperbole at its finest..

He'll crosscheck your best player, piss off the rest of the time and then pot one. He plays on the edge and sometimes over it, I love it...

Went to the Miami game again last night. Coleman potted another on a great individual effort with a nice finish on a partial breakaway with a lot of pressure. He is great at crashing the net and will stop at nothing to get there. His physical side really showed itself last night as he laid a huge hit on a Providence forward that was deemed as a 5 minute charging major but looked very borderline. The major was more a result of the kid not getting up for a minute. He was hitting people all over the ice and was excellent along the boards winning almost every battle for the puck. He isn't as much of a defensive forward as everyone seems to be projecting him to be, he gets minimal PK minutes but did make a great effort to break up a 3 on 1 and to not allow a shot. I am very excited about this kid in the future.

This seems just like what I've read about Derek Rodwell.

Except Rodwell has zero offensive skill. Coleman's season could end today and he would still finish with more goals than Rodwell.

Nonsense, I wouldn't even say he's the most dangerous prospect the Devils have had. That title belongs to Cormier.

But Matteau does need to figure out where the line is and stay on the right side of the rules.

Stevens wasn't a dirty player. Dangerous, perhaps, but not the same way you're using the word to mean dirty.

I'm happy to see him continue to score, I'm just not sure how much of his offence will translate to the pro game. We can always use another scoring forward who emerges out of nowhere, of course.

Matteau needs to go through the same evolution Steve Downie did.

What Pete Deboer once said about Downie applies to Matteau: "I'd rather tame a tiger than paint stripes on a *****cat."

Love it !

Matteau does belong in the WHL though where they are a bit more forgiving with rough play. Go the Lucic route.

He hit him in the numbers. It wasn't vicious, and maybe there was a bit of a dive by the player getting hit, but Matteau isn't going to get the benefit of the doubt on those.
