Hopefully Merrill doesn't have any setbacks. Michigan's PP has been dreadful all season. Currently they're at 13% but the last game I saw they ran a stat about them being 7% over the previous ~ten games.

Trouba's got a howitzer from the point but he's not a natural PPQB. Him and Merrill together should make their PP much more effective.

2 assists from Boucher after 1 period, playing Windsor and other prospect Johnson tonight.

Boucher added a goal to those 2 assists as well. Now leads the OHL in goals.

Also regarding Boucher, I didn't realize he was so young. If he was 6 days younger he would have been in the 2012 draft class.

Hard not to get excited about him. Can't wait to see what he can do in the AHL next year.

Boucher is now one point short of last year's total (50) in 29 fewer games.

Gotta love these numbers Bouch is putting up, especially without Galchenyuk. What I really hope, though, is that he's putting his all-around game together. We all know he can score, but hopefully he's working on everything else too.

Also: Yay Merrill is back. What a bummer that injury was. Let's hope his development gets right back on track. I hope that Canadian scrub who injured him enjoys his career bouncing around from the Texarkana Horny Toads to the Slidell Ice Mosquitoes.

I need to think of some synonyms for "hope". I hate that word.

I agree. He has some skill to backup his defensive play. Gratuitous Next Madden statement.

Three years from now, looking forward to the Gionta/Carter/Pietila line. Just try and get out of your own zone opposition!!!!

The chance of both Gionta and Carter being on the team three years from now is negligible.

Is he a center or a wing?

Pietila and Bardreau didn't allow a goal while they were on the ice. Neither did Gostisbehere but he didn't play on the PK so it's less impressive.

I don't know how much upside he has....

Just look at statistics, he seldom scores in the NCAA, but Lou might sign him for that Pietila connection. Imagine we draft Hartman too.

In four years, we can ice the Grind Line in the NHL.

Bardreau actually looked perfectly capable offensively in this tournament. Even so, if he makes the NHL it would be in a checking role.

Boucher is money. 6 goals and a multipoint streak in 6 games, all without Galchenyuk? Holy ****.

Reminds me of everyone whining about Henrique (that Sasso guy is gold). "Yeah, well let's see him score playing on a line with a house cat and an iguana and we'll see what kind of player he really is!"

I understand you were just making a point, but...

That's awesome. And with Galchenyuk away, Boucher is still potting them. Nobody can say he's totally a product of his superstar linemate.

That is impressive indeed, especially because WJCs can tend to be high scoring affairs. I'll be very pleased if Pietila follows in the long tradition of excellent defensive forwards in NJ.

I'm just saying he still has a pretty damn good player he's playing with. Not diminishing what he's done, but it's not like he's doing it on his own.

And to a point with Boucher, I don't even think it's an insult. The kid's a shooter, his ticket to the big league is never going to be creating his own offense.
