So essentially, an instigator? I didn't know you could get a game misconduct for that. In the big league you get two, five, and ten, but not a gamer.
It's called an Aggressor. From the QMJHL Rule Book:
47.2 Aggressor – The aggressor in a fight shall be the player (or goalkeeper) who continues to throw punches in an
attempt to inflict punishment on his opponent who is in a defenceless position or who is an unwilling combatant.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the aggressor of a fight shall be assessed a major penalty for fighting
and a game misconduct.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the aggressor of a fight will have this recorded as an aggressor of a
fight for statistical and suspension purposes.
A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be both the instigator and aggressor of a fight shall be assessed an instigating minor penalty, a major penalty for fighting, a ten-minute misconduct (instigator) and a game misconduct
Not sure exactly what happened but I know the other guy never dropped his gloves. So either Matteau jumped him or he just wimped out.
Exhibition against Windsor tonight, regular season starts on Thursday against RIT. For those in the area, Michigan will be playing Cornell at MSG on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Currently slated to check out Michigan in early November. Ideally I can catch the Michigan State game on that Friday, watch a game at the Big House on Saturday, and then watch Plymouth/London on Saturday night.
I'm wondering if something like Ryan Clowe is a decent projection for Matteau.
~20 goals, ~35 assists, 100+ PIM
Some guy in the name a projection for a prospect thread, said Arnott. I couldn't help but think there's a chance he might develop like him though, with maybe more physical play, however, Matteau is best suited for the wing, and Clowe is a pretty good comparison.
The Merrill hit was bad. Head first into the boards, stayed down on his knees for about 10 seconds, got up, blinked like 20 times, dropped back to his knees, got back up, and attempted to skate back to his bench. It looked like he had absolutely no clue where he was. Did not look good whatsoever.
