Just because the Wings and the Flames are talking about a player doesnt mean it's serious. I'm sure Detroit would like to get Bouwmeester but dont think they'd be all that happy paying too much for him. Talks may have just been to gauge what the Flames would want. I doubt anything gets done, especially pre CBA.

Given that the Flames have never been a dynasty, per se, and their current iteration has missed the playoffs for the past three seasons, I'm going to assume the poster is referring to the Red Wings.

This is great news, they need to get this deal done then sign Colaiacovo to a long term deal then they are in great shape, the Blues that is.

Got somewhat interested seeing the TSN tag in it...

It's quoting the unreliable MLive article

WHY would Feaster trade Bouwmeester for Filppula? Flames don't have that great D corps and Filppula has only 1 year left in his contract. He might just walk after next year AND in worst case there's a lockout and he doesn't play a single game for them. Then Flames would be without Filppula and without Bouwmeester... Alltough this could finally get Feaster fired I guess.

If they trade Bouwmeester it has to be for good/decent prospect and picks.

But he got crushed when he traded both Richards and Boyle in his previous stop.

Maybe he has learned, but I guess equally important name the last trade Holland got crushed in?
Completely different situations. He was forced to trade Richards and Boyle (salary cap reasons), he's under no obligation to trade Bouwmeester.

Besides, it's not like he was destroyed in both trades. Mike Smith has now established himself as a #1 goaltender and J.Jokinen has also proven himself to be a top-6 forward. Ty Wishart, Matt Carle (top-4 D), + a 1st for Boyle was also a good return under the circumstances.

I think given the reports that the Wings have been talking to the Flames and that no deal has been made yet shows that if any deal is made that it will be a fair deal for both teams. Also add to the fact that there are other teams that could really use him (ie. Philly, Nashville), we are in a good position to get what we want or else we will be more than happy to keep him.
You're wasting your breath. Red Wings fans are under the impression they're going to get Bouwmeester for cheap, let them keep thinking that.

They probably will. Feaster sucks at trades. Take it from a TB fan.

Most are under the impression that the Wings won't get him.

In fact, most will be mad if Detroit does get him.

Also, explain to me why Detroit would pay a high price for Jbo. <--Heavy sarcasm.

And suddenly Flames fans are acting as if Bouwmeester is one of the league's best defensemen.

Jurco was signed to an ELC on Monday. He will be with the Griffins next season.

Um no we are aren't. We are mostly saying we want him for cheap or not at all. Will we get him for cheap? Probably not, in wich case I hope we don't get him at all.

Detroit needs a guy that can hang back and cover for Kronwall, if he's going to continue dishing out those crushing hits. People that have never watched J-Bo can hate all they want, but skating backwards and defending against rushes is something he's one of the very best in the league at, and that's what Detroit really needs to compliment Kronwall's style of play.

Wanted to be accurate. Jurco hasn't played a pro game yet that I know of.

Also, I can't wait to see how he does.

Kronwall picks his spots well, so no matter who his defense partner is, they will cover.

Plus, Jbo won't be playing with Kronwall.

So we wait until page 7 to add an important little nugget: JBO has a NTC and his wife is a Calgary born and raised. So probably not going anywhere.
