Looks like the leaders will get a few hours after they finish this round unlike the 09 US Open where they had a half hour and had to run back out on the course. Looks like this has been a benefit for Tiger.
Weather today in SC is looking and feeling more stable but that means precisely **** all when it comes to afternoon thunderstorms.

Leaders will go off at 1:45 EDT

McIlroy separated himself a bit, but find it hard to believe the winning score will be that low. Plays with Petterson and Van Pelt.
Adam Scott in there in the penultimate group with Immelman and Stricker
Tiger lurking in the third-to-last group. Dropped a couple at the end of the 3rd round. He has Vijay and Hanson.
Beyond that, don't think -1's have more than a miracle chance.

Seems like much earlier tee times than usual, but I guess that's intentional to have a buffer against any 1-2 hour storms.

Also, 3-man groups will make each hole run longer. I thought the same thing though, usually it's around 2-2:30.

Good ol' Phil starts out missing a 4 footer for par. Ouch.

Very sinkable eagle putt for Tiger coming up on the 2nd hole.

Poulter starting out with 4 straight birdies, now 2 back.

Tiger just flew the #3 green, and might have a tough up and down to save par.

Not really sure what Rory was doing there, awful layup and in the trees. Still not sure what his shape will be in for his 3rd on the par 5.

TV truck looking into if Pettersson grounded his club on his approach on the 1st.

Poulter has a reasonable 15 footer for his 5th straight bird...

Poulter just drained his 5th straight bird, 1 back now, and Rory might be in trouble. Still haven't shown his lie...

McIlroy with a nice start, 2 birdies in the first 3 holes and putting some distance into the rest of the field.

Yeah, he got a bit lucky lie wise on the par 5, but made the best of it. Didn't exactly leave himself with the easiest approach shot on the 3rd, but made a good shot and putt.

Doesn't bode well for the rest of the field when he's not hitting his best approach shots and is still 2 under through 3.

I don't understand the rule Petterson just got nailed on. Because he's in a hazard, nothing can naturally move? That seems quite harsh.

Poults with eagle opportunity.

No kidding. Pettersson doesn't look like he is on his A game, and Tiger is one more par away from being too far back. Poulter and Rory could run away with this thing real soon.

2 shot penalty for Pettersson.

Also, I don't like Rory.

They actually penalized him for that? Damn, I didn't think the view was good enough to say for certain one way or another... and he'd be fine.

His tournament is toast.

I know that's the risk of hitting into what is technically a hazard, but it seems like BS rule

Agreed, it's really stupid and just way too random.

That is complete crap. Some of the rules in golf just baffle me. Poultier on a complete terror. The way Rory is striking the ball it is his to lose.

McIlroy on the green with a long eagle opportunity. Two good putts should get him to 10 under.

Pettersson would be at -8 were it not for that ridiculous penalty.

I think next year is the make or break year for Tiger. He's been in some, and hasn't been able to put up 4 rounds, but has obviously had his best year since his ACL/divorce. If he can't break through next year, I think too many other players are too good now to allow him to get to 19 majors.
