Trade Rumors and Free Agent TalkTrade rumors, transactions, and free agent talk. Rumors must contain the word RUMOR in post title. Proposals must contain the word PROPOSAL in post title.
With Jeff Skinner being extended and all, its probably unlikely that he'll be included by Rutherford in any trade really. That said, I still see there being interest between these teams.
Carolina: Staal
New York: Ruutu, Gleason, Larose, Sanguinetti
The Rangers might be looking to add some depth after losing quality players from the Nash trade. Its probably hard to see a player like Staal moved in another blockbuster trade, but I think he's the most expendable defenseman in your top 4.
Also, ruutu and Gleason have ntc's, but the Rangers are probably one of the few teams they'd waive it for.
While I think it would be awesome to have 3 Staal's in one team, I don't think your proposal is valid.
I can't see LaRose moved, probably same for Gleason. Ruutu might get moved, if the price is right. I just think the organization has other needs than uniting all Staal Brothers at this time. Maybe in 10 years!
I think this was beaten to death in 2 other threads. The consensus there was that the Rangers are a cup contending team and have no desire to trade M. Staal who is an outstanding defenseman and valuable part of their team. And even if they did, he Canes couldn't give up enough to get him.
Maybe in a few years when he's a free agent or a year away IF (and it's an if) Marc wants to play with his brothers, something can be worked out. But right now, NYR's need him and he has a better chance at a cup with the Rangers.

Your post should be the end of this thread, Boom Boom.
Ruutu is redundant on the Rangers. (Kreider, Nash, Hagelin)
Gleason is a big downgrade from Staal.
Larose is a 3rd line grinder type.
Sanguinetti won't be back.
There really isn't anything realistic that can be worked out between the two teams. Rangers aren't looking for futures either.

If GMJR is willing to part with one of our best home grown talented forwards in Sutter+, there is nothing holding back Gleason and especially Larose from being traded.
Obviously Staal is important for another cup run but so are talented depth players with intangibles.
That said, I still see there being interest between these teams.
Interest between both teams? You can't be serious...................
Ruutu has a 4.75M cap hit, and he's coming off a 34 point season.
Gleason has a 4M cap hit. He's a downgrade from Staal.
Larose has a 1.7M cap hit, and is a 30p 3rd liner.
Sanguinetti is garbage. It's why we moved him in the first place.
10.5M coming in. 3.975M going out. Do your homework before posting nonsense proposals. It's not even remotely close. One of the worst proposals this forum has witnessed this entire summer (and that's saying A LOT).

My proposal included 2 2nd liners, 1 3rd liner, and a decent prospect for a clear cut top pairing dman. The value is close, but i guess the quantity isnt enough to outweigh the quality.
FWIW, the canes developed your draft pick pretty well under our minor league coach, Jeff Daniels, and that's saying a lot. He was a top scoring AHL defensman last season IIRC

If indeed quantity isn't enough to outweigh the quantity (and it's not) the value is not close. BBG is right — the package doesn't address the Rangers need and adds tons of unnecessary cap hit.

You want Marc Staal with 3 years left on his very reasonable contract? The cost is Skinner. There is no other combination on your roster (other than a Staal) that the Rangers would be interested in.

There will be no Skinner for Staals on this thread.

Skinner for Girardi, Callahan, and 1st
You posted the thread, you came to us. Staal is not on the block. The cost is Skinner to make the Rangers think about it, its certainly not the scraps you offered.
I'd keep Staal over pretty much anything you could offer unless it's Skinner or a Staal coming back.
Marc Staal to Carolina could happen in a year or two (or more), but very unlikely now. NY Rangers are looking to get their hands in Stanley Cup and they aren't downgrading Marc Staal. If they would, they would need young quality talent with cheap contracts to add quality depth. It's too much of a asking price. McBain+1st 2013+ basis on a deal isn't that horrible but NYR would get worse now so they aren't moving Marc now.

Ruutu has a no trade clause
Gleason has a no trade clause
LaRose won't be traded
NYR probably don't want Sanguinetti back
NYR don't want to trade M.Staal
