See Bernier you're going to get more starts than normal.

Assuming the season starts when it's supposed to, which I doubt after hearing Bettman's comments today.

Call me crazy, but I don't think this league can survive financially by taking every 8th season "off."

This is the opportunity Bernier and maybe even Lombardi have been looking for.

He's got time and he's had to start an awful lot the past few seasons. Maybe this will give him some time to recharge the batteries so to speak.

I can almost guarantee that if JB does well during JQ's absence, and JQ struggles upon his return, the fans will turn on Quick in a new york minute.

Ahhh, the inevitable offseason injuries that we didn't know about during the end of the season.

Totally disagree.

It seems that the only Bernier supporters are on Kings' discussion boards. I sure don't see any groundswell of support for Bernier over Quick at Staples Center.

Unless all those chants of "MVP!" are from Laker fans in the building on the wrong night.

Did you not learn anything from those who hated Stoll and Penner all season long, only to come aboard in the playoffs when they played better?

Believe me, there will be plenty of fans jumping on the JB's bandwagon if JQ struggles upon his return.

You've got splinters in the windmills of your mind if you honestly believe that.

Do you really think that the fans will support JQ if he struggles game after game upon his return and can't find his game? Some may, but many will jump ship and support JB.

I ain't even mad, but it always surprises me that they don't know about these injuries right when the season ends and take care of it ASAP.

Oh you mean that opportunity after the starter signed a lifetime contract?

Yea that's exactly the opportunity Bernier has been looking for.....

Judging by your responses Black..you aren't aware...Quick is our starter, and carried the team to the Stanley Cup. He also just signed a 10 year contract. Just keepin ya in the loop that's all.

I just meant that JB will now get the opportunity to play.

Invasive surgery isn't always the way to go. As written in the article - Quick and the Kings had been aware of the back issue since the start of summer, but that therapy, and not a surgical procedure, had initially been recommended. It just wasn't coming along quite as quick as they'd hoped, so now they opted for the Surgery at a time that should still allow him to be ready around camp-time. Assuming there is a camp on time, of course.
