Kopitar hasn't hit his prime, so I don't really see how I'm supposed to answer this.

Going forward though, I'd definitely take Kopitar.

Do some of you even know what overrated means?

How would you place a 24 year old ELITE 2-way center with a SC ring as being overrated? The guy hasn't even hit his prime yet and many have him as top 10 in the league...

No one's saying he's not an excellent player, but there's a fair amount of people who have him as a top 5 centre in the league.

No, there actually aren't. It's more common for him to be left out of a top 10 list than it is for him to be included in a top 5 list. Even Kings fans consider him top 10.

I like how many people say Hossa was an elite winger in his prime, which apparently is over. He had 77 points last year.

Who is elite if Marian Hossa isn't?

And if you remove his first 67 career games, he has a 0.96PPG in about 900 games (only drops to 0.92PPG with those games included). The guy has been underrated ever since he left the Senators, imo, despite being the model of consistency.

Anze Kopitar, a bit overrated at the moment like any player on a Stanley Cup winning team, still would want Kopitar on the wings more than Hossa at the moment.

Hit his prime is the most ridiculous sentence on HF. People love to make a point with this but that means just nothing. A ton of players hit their real prime way after the ridiculous 24 to 27 mark, or just one season, or maybe two or even never. Every player is a special case.

Kopitar has a better season than Hossa, I understand why most people would pick him over Hossa, end of story.

Couldn't agree with this more, I have been thinking it throughout this whole thread.

Apparently, also, Hossa and his 77 points are washed up and no longer good enough to be his prime.

I would take a "washed up, past his prime" Hossa any day on my team.

Hossa also finished 4th overall in scoring last year for wingers behind only Kovalchuk, Neal and Kessel.

Ahead of guys like Iginla, Ovechkin and Zetterberg (though per HF definition, Iginla and Zetterberg are probably far past prime too).

I consider peak years to be prime years. Hossa is still elite, but he's not performing like he did at his peak, which was 80 to 100 points and 30 to 40+ goals. He hasn't hit 30 goals in a few years. Hossa is slowing down, but he's still great. He was one of the guys (along with Kovi/Richards) that Lombardi offered a big contract to, but he rightfully chose Chicago. Still a great player and wish he had signed with the Kings, but it all worked out for both parties in the end.

Both awesome players... Roughly equal. I voted Kopitar though due to centres being more valuable than wings and because of age (in case you're thinking of a going-forward type of scenario)

Hossa in his prime, but i think we haven't seen the best of Kopitar yet. Right now i'd take Kopitar no doubt considering Hossa's turning 34 this season.

Hossa is very slightly better and I'd rather have Kopitar on my team.

Kopitar is a bit overrated for obvious reasons lately. It's verrryyy close but I choose Hossa mainly because I think he's better defensively. And yes, I do realize Kopitar is great in that regard, Hossa is just better imo.

Without considering his concussion, Hossa is slightly better today than Kopitar.

But between the concussion and the age gap, Kopitar will likely be the better player, maybe as soon as next season.
