Dallas gets younger on their third line - if TK plays well in Dallas they could likely retain him cheaply. + a pick

Pittsburgh gets somebody capable of playing wing in their top-6

Yea, a younger 3rd line stopgap would be nice, and it's a 1st in a deep draft. Morrow would get a shot at a cup, be back with Neal, and playing with Crosby (I'm assuming) would really help him recover.

Morrow's a risk, but that's not a huge price for Pittsburgh to pay right now. They're loaded in every position but wing (mostly top 6), so it does make sense for them.

Sounds like GMJN is done this OS though. And then of course there's Morrow's NTC to deal with, but I think he'd waive for Pittsburgh.

I would definetly think about this one. To the poster who said Morrow can play in Pit's top-6, he's not even playing in the Dallas top-6.

Although Morrow has to compete with Ryder/Eriksson/Jagr/Whitney in Dallas, he would have no trouble making the Penguins top-6 at camp. His competition is literally Eric Tangradi right now.

So PIT gives up a 33 point scorer in 60 games plus a very valuable first round pick for a guy who scored the same amount of goals and 7 less points in only 3 less games? And not to mention Pittsburgh's man is 7 years younger.

Pittsburgh would never do a trade that one-sided.

Morrow was playing through a bad injury all of last season. His health is still a ?, but his production shouldn't be that low.

33 points in 60 games is nothing to write home about.

Since when is a 20-25 1st rounder "very" valuable...?

Morrow also brings leadership and physicality to the top 6, something you can never have too much of. He does take a lot of stupid penalties, but that might be more frustration that he can't play at 100% than anything.

If he's fully recovered, Pittsburgh wins this trade easily. 30 goals, 60 points, awesome grit and leadership. If he's not, it's a failed gamble, and at worst you've got a guy similar to Kennedy in your top 6 and the lack of a single 1st (and looking at your prospect pool, you don't really need it).

My biggest issue with dealing Morrow is that we've given up a lot of our grit with the Ott trade and the departures of Souray and Burish. Morrow brings grit, can score (from the dirty areas) and is our captain. I don't think the NTC is an issue if it involves Pit. I like the package. This would be a tough call for GMJN.

I would prefer TK in the top 6 spot over guys like Tangradi or possibly Jeffrey, he's a winger with good speed that does have a lot of flaws, but could easily put up 20-25 goals playing with Crosby. If we didn't have a 1st next year Pittsburgh would have an empty forward prospect pool (except for Bennett, who could graduate by that time). If we did trade our first round pick, I would want something better than Morrow.

I'm going to have to pass.

I think Morrow will be extremely motivated this upcoming season. His healthy is still a mystery, but I'm willing to give him the chance to play his way back onto the team. Also, we lost a ton of grit when Ott got traded to Buffalo and management let Burish and Souray walk. Morrow gives our line up a little bit of an edge, and would be a good mentor for Cody Eakin (assuming the third line is Morrow-Eakin-Vincour).

Means it's valuable, not "very". Now you're just nitpicking.

I wouldn't do this from Dallas' side. The value is good and we would get a nice return, but I can't justify adding another sub-six foot player onto the team.

We are already smaller, not physical, and lack a lot of size upfront. We lost the physical edge of Ott, Burish, and Dowell and replaced it with more skilled but less physical players.

That would be my main problem with this deal. We would just get pushed around every game.

Not a 1st, but 2nd or 3rd with Kennedy I would do. I know Morrow has had his shares of injuries in the last couple of years but he is exactly what we need
