GDT: San Antonio[Florida] at Milwaukee 7:00 CST Tonight
Milwaukee tries to keep it going tonight against San Antonio. Admirals have won 3 straight and now 7 of their last 8,but have lost three straight to San Antonio this year(1 OT,2 in regulation) and are only 1-2-1 against these guys this year. For some reason Travis Scott(SA goalie) has had their number so far. And 4 of MIL's next 6 games are against SA. Should make it pretty fiesty.
Personnel note for MIL.Yesterday admirals signed a 23 year old centerman from the ECHL,Chris Menard,to a 10 day PTO contract. Not sure exactly why this was done if the 4 regular centermen are all healthy(smith, fiddler, hrkac, smithson). All 4 of those played all three games all weekend, but maybe one of them is hurt? Hrkac was moved down to the 4th line for last game and given limited shifts for 'rest' according to announcer, maybe that has something to do with this.
Finley has started each of the last 8 games. Kotyk got hammered and knocked out last time Milwaukee played SA(pulled after 3 goals in a period and a half).
Milwaukee has played the fewest home games in the AHL so far (16 vs 22 road),so schedule looks fairly good here going forward.
the lineup fielded by Milwaukee tonight will be interesting...this Minard that the Ads signed to a PTO contract makes you wonder what's up,if anything personnel wise...
Ads (with this signing of Minard) now have 16 active forwards, and 7 dmen....the dman roster appears fairly well set of course with ...Hammer,Suter,Hutch,Zanon,Tiley,Klein and the new guy,Henry
assuming you have 7 dmen, you can carry 14 frontliners on the newly expanded 23 man AHL rosters....of course Upshall and Pivko are on injured reserve(Upshall probably for at least the next 10 odd days,Pivko for 3 more weeks or so)...Brown,who has been injured appears ready to dress...so it is likely the ads signed Minard to a 10 day contract to fill out the full 23 man roster and provide emergency frontline help until Upshall is ready to go...then as Upshall returns you release Minard, and when Pivko is ready to go you send Lundbolm down to the ECHL..(actually Lundbolm is a valuable guy to have around, fiesty, and able to play on the pk-so it's possible Brown is shipped back to the ECHL instead)...
my only real question is why sign a 5th centerman here?...when it's at wing we're slim right now(surely it's not anticipating a centerman getting called to a restarted NHL you don't think?,nah that's got to be just a pipe dream)...just hoping all 4 of the ad's regular centers are healthy, and will be listening to see the lineup
real defensive struggle thru the first period and a half, ads have outshot them 17-10 but few real scoring chances, still 1-1....i tell you Travis Scott gives us fits,he has over a .950 save percentage against us this year
that point by hutchinson gives him 30 for the year and ties him with kronwall for most points in the league by a dman..and the goal by hamhuis gives him 27 points, tied for 5th in the league himself...also gives him 6 pp goals, most by a dman in the AHL
