[GENERAL] NHL Entry Draft 2005

finally, here is the thread about all western europe players that might get drafted in 2005. feel free to talk about them or just share information with others.

i'll start with a little text about german philipp gogulla (cologne). it's from the ISS top 10 2005 prospects for december.

Quote:
The newest member of ISS top 100. Gogulla had an eye opening performance at the recent Four Nations tournament. Every year in the scouting industry there are a few players that come out of nowhere and exceed all expectations, with one such player being Philip Gogulla. The solid two-way power forward type, Gogulla was Germany’s best player at last month’s Four Nations Tournament in Prievidza, Slovakia.

I'm a bit surprised about the "comming out of nowhere" part, as Gogulla was one of the best German forwards behind Gawlik when in the U-17 tournament that made Gawlik "famous".
He even outscored Gawlik last season, so I didn't expect anything else from him.

I my opinion, Lukas Lang could be a big surprise....he had some fantastic games in the DEL and very good stats.( 0.89 , 96,55%)

Other notables:

Florian Ondruschka
Robert Dietrich
Norman Martens

although being overlooked twice, fabio carciola could be worth a shot. i like what i saw when he was in kassel and i from what i heard he's playing with a lot of energy in mannheim.

I´d like to add Christoph Ullmann to the list. Worth a shot like Carciola in the later rounds.

Otherwise i´m surprised that Ziffzer isn´t on the list.

dunno why, but i was quite sure he's drafted. so yes, he's worth a shot for sure.

he was eligible last year and those players are not included.

CSS mid-term rankings just came out. here are the relevant guys for our board:

Skaters:
# 28 Christoph Gawlik, C/W, Eisbären (GER)
# 31 Philippe Gogulla, W, Cologne (GER)
# 50 Janick Steinmann, C/W, Olten (SUI2)
# 51 Alessandro Chiesa, D, Ambri (SUIjr)
# 64 Adrien Lauper, W, Fribourg (SUIjr)
# 73 Sandro Schönberger, W, Bad Tölz (GER2)
# 82 Florian Ondruschka, D, Weiden (GER2)
#102 Fernando Heynen, D, Visp (SUI2)
#109 Thomas Pielmeier, C/W, Mannheim (GERjr)
#122 Fabrizio Conte, C, Davos (SUIjr)
#139 Justin Krüger, D, Davos (SUIjr)

Goalies:
#3 Reto Berra, G, Dübendorf (SUI2)

6 from switzerland, 6 from germany (krüger is german) and that's it. the guy i really miss is moritz müller from the german point of view. i don't know which swiss or austrian players they left out surprisingly. all in all it should be a weak draft for the western europe board, but there's still hope.

Gawlik should be able to rise the rankings a bit if he stays fit.

I am surprised Pietta is not ranked.

Is there any chances that Leonardo Genoni gets drafted this year?

I've only seen him this year at the WJC against Canada and I thought he was a solid goaltender and that he stood up very nicely for Switzerland against a too powerful Canada squad. Has anybody seen him play outside of the WJC and can give me more infos on him?
