I didn't actually count the adds but McCabe looked like the overwhelming favorite.
Have at it.
Eligible players
F: Riley Boychuk, Brian Flynn, Christian Isackson, Colin Jacobs, Justin Kea, Jacob Lagace, Brad Navin, Logan Nelson, Jonathan Parker, Judd Peterson, Shawn Szydlowski, Phil Varone
D: Mark Adams, Brady Austin, Nick Crawford, Alex Lepkowski, Matt MacKenzie, Drew Schiestel
Also, you need to put Flynn on the list of potential adds.
You're right. He's not listed on the Sabres HF page so I thought he was too old when signed but I guess it doesn't matter (any NCAA skater signed at 22 or over has 3 years to play 65 NHL games, FWIW). I'll add him. I think Finley was legitimately too old to add, though, because he was off his ELC with Washington when the Sabres signed him.
I'll join the add Ullmark camp.
For me, here it's Girgensons. With his size, maturity and skill/physical combo he seems, to me, to be the best bet to have the most impactful role out of him, McNabb and Foligno. There's very little to distinguish those three, and Pysyk is close too, IMO, so there isn't really a bad option out of the group.
I give Girgs the edge over McNabb because he fills a greater position of need.
Interesting justification. Do you believe they're essentially equal and the only difference is organizational depth at their respective positions, or do you believe that the organization's lack of high-end center depth make the centers "better" prospects than players at other positions? Just asking for a clarification.
IMO, they both fill pretty important needs, based on McNabb's style of play.
Tough choice between girgs, mcnabb, and foligno. I have to go with the potential top pairing, physical, offensive minded d man in mcnabb over a top 6 center. It's tough, though. Girgs and foligno both have intangibles that can't be taught.
I like McNabb Pysyk and Foligno as much as Girgensons and I usually pick the player that has proven the most at the highest levels. However, IMO Zemgus offers the most offensive potential. I realize Pysyk and McNabb are Dmen, but I think they're more likely the stay at home types than the two-way variety, Pysyk especially. Foligno will be the physical force we want and contribute offensively as he can. I just think Girgensons can be just as physical but could end up better offensively and defensively to Foligno.
McNabb would have been my second choice as it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up being what we've all hoped Myers would become, but at this point that's quite the leap of faith.
That Leopold goal in the dieing seconds of the 3rd against Toronto has gotten me more excited for a player than I have been in a while. Girgensons looks like he'll me similarly awesome, but the way Marcus jumped off the draw and took down Komisarek or whoever that was for the puck was amazing.
