chabge draft to a year older?

I've heard people argue that players should be drafted when they're older.. So if the lockout cancels the whole season how would you feel about not having a draft next summer and changing the draft age by a year to 19? Would make it a bit less of a crapshoot no?

God please no!!!!! How many times in a row have the Oilers had the number one overall pick? 3....... Man that's already way too much.

1. Taylor Hall
2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
3. Nail Yakupov

Not to mention all the high 2nd round picks too.

They already signed Justin "Better than Shore, Bourque, Orr, Lidstrom, Robinson, and Park combined" Schultz.

oh please!! but it's OK for the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2003 to 2006 to pick #1, #2, #1, #2 and get Fleury, Malkin, Crosby, J. Staal and by 2009 win a Stanley Cup? pleeease!!

But it's funny. Especially when we won the lottery this past season.

Not hating on you personally but the reason you guys get hated on more than they did is because you have a lot more obnoxious fans on here than the Pens do

This is a misinterpretation. It's not "you're more (a greater degree) obnoxious in general", it's "there are more (a greater number of) obnoxious Oilers fans than there are obnoxious Pens fans".

Probably because the way some Oilers fans talk, it's the reincarnation of Messier, Gretzky and Kurri on that top line, and when people take offense to that we get called ignorant and uninformed.

^you know guys, it works both ways...i have found plenty of opposing teams fans acting just as obnoxious as any Oiler fan! and have you ever thought that the relentless pounding Oiler fans have had to endure during this painful rebuild has put Oiler fans on the defensive a little? can you blame them? yet when we stand up for ourselves, we get called "obnoxious". this really pizzes me off, although to be fair, every teams fans base, ours included, has it's fair share of knuckle heads.

Let these "people" believe. They are free and open to draw comparisons back to that dynasty. It doesn't require an analyst or self-proclaimed expert to determine or deem otherwise. But it is fun, exciting and finally interesting with a bright future and solid pedigree to see light in the future of Edmonton after all the dark years. Their future came with a lot of sacrifice and loyalty in its fans.

They all could just trade in their cards for Stars cards and feel important now could they?

Sorry, but the Oilers shouldn't be able to get the number one overall pick next season. There should be a limit to the amount of times a team can pick first overall in consecutive years. No team needs four #1's in a row.

Nothing wrong with hoping that.

Especially as they never suck for 2-3 (or 6-7) years in a row.

You do realise that all those who would be 19 for draft purposes next year were eligible for this year draft.

What a weak draft it would be with all of these players who would have been drafted in rounds 8 to 14 this year if these had taken place.

He means to skip the 2013 draft and have MacKinnon et al. drafted in 2014. Wouldn't work due to the fact that picks have been traded.

Like I said not necessarily you just the fan base in general talks about how a future dynasty is all but guaranteed for the Oilers

Don't ask me to look up posts I'm not singling anyone out - I'm just using a very general term here the same way lots of people talk about Leaf fans

Dude the Leafs have been bad for 45 years.....you guys have been bad for awhile? At least you have pictures of players wearing Oiler jerseys with the cup in colour

Just because the future is bright now doesn't mean you need to get carried away with everything (again not personally you, you meaning the fan base)

I understand you are all excited and thats perfectly fine but its the dynasty comments and stuff that I find to be unnecessary

One thing that bothers me, yet intrigues me, is the fact that a team with more than one 1st rounder will greatly increase their chances at a top 3 pick, especially depending on what team's pick they have. If there's a lockout, i would imagine the prices if 1st rounders would greatly increase.
I don't think you can trade without a CBA. Much like signing guys.
