They qualified him, so he's on the team.

He can fufill the spot formerly filled by Sharks that supposedly exist, but you never see for a season or more, such as Vladamir Malakhov, Torrey Mitchell, and Cam McIntyre.

No, it does not mean he's accepted his QO, just that he received one (and the Sharks retain his rights).

right, he can decide to not accept it and hold out for a contract from the sharks. which in his case would be basically career suicide.

Has anyone heard anything about him this whole offseason? I dont think I have read a single thing about him, not even if he is healthy, or skating or what. Anyone have even the slightest clue if he still even exists? Thanks

He was in the minors at the end of last season so yes he's supposedly healthy. Wilson said recently he expects him to compete for a roster spot with the big club.

It's amazing to me how many people are up Sheppard's ass without ever seeing him play. DW acquired him knowing full well that he may not ever play at an NHL level again. He's a former 1st round pick who had an injury, and we got him for a late 3rd. The chance that a former 1st round pick who played in the NHL will recover is better than completely healthy 3rd rounder making any kind of impact in the NHL.

Oh no, a 3rd round pick. Look at recent drafts, and see the type of players we're missing. For every Edler, fillpula, and Franzen there's 1241124242 players we'll never see in the NHL.

After checking here's the conclusion I have come to.

Sheppard was alive up till 8:41 am on July 14th. After that I'm unsure if he just stopped playing or Burns killed him for playing too much COD because the next log clearly is something Sheppard being the Call of Duty king he is, would have zero interest playing. It also takes place 12 days later. Plenty of time for Burns to have disposed of the body. I guess we won't know for sure till training camp.

He should be on the roster next year, or at least jumping up randomly from the AHL.

If I'm not mistaken, Wingles went in the 6th or 7th round, the same with Braun.

An injured former 1st round pick, I think we will at least give him a chance.

Not exactly. He was sent down to Worcester on LTIR conditioning stint and didn't even last the two weeks duration before he was shut down for the season.

Haven't seen anything further.

Sharks are traditionally terribad at drafting in the third round. Just preemptive bust-avoidance.

I had to go back and look at the Sharks 3rd round picks to see how bad they've been. Only 3 successful ones - Dody Wood, Ville Peltonen and Greiss. The amazing thing is how few 3rd round picks they've had.

I would laugh pretty hard if Sheppard ends up on the first line with Thornton/Marleau and pots 30 goals.

And considering those three names are considered "success" compared to the rest of third round draftees...

Oh my God.

That's highly unlikely.
