Not true, at first Chelsea forbade Courtois to play the Super Cup, but then they backtracked for some reason.

EDIT: IDK if this has been posted yet, but here's footage of Thorgan's Hazard's debut @ Chelsea.

Sessegnon has extended his contract at Sunderland until 2015, that's the best news I've heard this window for Sunderland.

Some excellent signings by Spurs IMO with Dempsey and Lloris. Gonna be a battle between them and Gunners for that last CL spot.

Does anybody know when the official 25-men squads will be submitted?

I checked the premier League site and there's nothing there. Looked at some clubs' sites as well, and e.g. Man Utd and Man City have 27 players each in their first team squad while Chelsea have only 24 (after Essien's loan away to Real Madrid).

I know that CL squads must be submitted on Monday Sep 3 by 24.00 CET.

Yes. One of the questions they could have asked him was, "how do we know you'll not be another of those coaches who can run a team successfully for two months, but not the long haul?"

Maybe Clarke's a neglected talent whose moment has come, but once upon a time people were saying that about Brian Kidd.

Wenger needs to patch his philosopy. It doesnt work as good when you must compete with the people behind United, Chelsea and City. But hopefullt he can take that 4th spot

Oh I agree it's early days, but for all the talk he would fail, they've looked decent

On Jack Wilshere

"He is looking very good in training," said Wenger after Arsenal's 2-0 win at Liverpool. "Close, it depends what you call close.

"I would still give him a month. But it looks very good. In a month he should be starting to play again."

I'll believe it when I see it.

I absolutely love the way this kid plays the game. Plays with such tenacity on the pitch and will really help fill that void left by Song.

He's a tremendous talent and has the making of a great leader. I'm just worried if he can actually stay healthy with the way he plays.

how do you think he'll fit in/?

First choice would probably be

------Szczesny------
Bac-TV-Kos-Gibbo
--Arteta--Wilshere
-----Cazorla-----
LW---ST----RW---

Great Midfield with the depth Arsenal have, rotations will be frequent I reckon. Plus Wilshere & Arteta are both capable of playing AM. Whenever Cazorla is out(Rest or Injury), one of Wilshere/Arteta could move up, leaving a spot for Diaby at CM, or even straight up swap Rosicky/Chamberlain for Cazorla. Oxl-Cube played lots of CM this pre-season, I expect Arsene to use him on the wings and in the middle to maximize his playing time (He actually naturally is an AM).

Going to have lots of rotations for those 3 midfield holes, which is ideal since it helps both Diaby & Wilshere settle in without forcing them to play every game. Nice way to ease them in until they're both back to full fitness & injury free

I just hope he can recover to be near or equal to the player he was. Such a shame he and Ramsey had such terrible injuries so early in their careers. They were supposed to be the future of the midfield for years to come and it may have ended before it even started.

The deadline was today (Tuesday, 4 PM UK time) and the squads have been submitted now.

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/n...ts-201213.html

Wigan with only 6 home-grown players, Villa with 17. Spurs included all of their 4 goalies.

Carroll's hamstring injury suffered against Fulham will keep him out at least six weeks. Takes him so long to regain fitness that I would classify it of the two months out variety, to be quite honest.

England v Germany u19 game just started, should be interesting for the liverpool fans as both Sterling and Yesil are starting.

EDIT: and less than 2 minutes in Yesil scores himself a nifty goal.

Going to be seeing a lot of that if you're good enough, you're old enough adage this season. Would be surprised if Yesil did not reach double figures in first team appearances.

"I was quite lucky it didn't cut my muscle," said Rooney. "But I was told it was just one millimetre away from severing an artery. It could have been a lot worse so thank God for that. I could have been in serious trouble.

"The doctors said a lot of players could have fainted [with the injury]. They tried to cover it up from me in the dressing room and put something in to stop it being infected, but I told them I wanted to watch.

"Thankfully, their prompt action prevented serious and possible lasting damage."
