If Bud Hollway ever wants 2 play for The Kings, he needs to play in MANCH next season
I feel Bud Hollway is probably underrated.
He accomplished a lot in the SEL last season.
And I say,
Good for him.
He had a fine growth year.
I think he will be an NHL player, almost for certain.
Maybe even better than Matt Moulson and Ted Purcell.
But if it's to be with US, he needs to be available for callup this season.
Maybe The Kings will be fortunate and we won't have many injuries. (?)
That would be nice.
Even so, players still go into slumps, or have personal issues, causing them
to miss games.
There will be, in all likelihood, some opportunity for a couple wings
in Manch to come up for a few games. If they are playing well.

I don't know Bud Holloway's personal situation. But if he, or his family, have a financial need for him to play in Sweden, then
I could totally understand.
But if he can do without the extra money playing in Sweden gets him, then
he should damn well play in Manchester in 2012-13, and lead that team
like he did Skelleftea HC last season.
And, be available for that callup where he can show his stuff,
help the team, and prove me right.

I like Igor Liba's game. He plays like a power forward but has some nice hands as well. Miko Makela has MM for his name like DD DD44 VV and we love that sort of thing around here.
Phil Syes never gets enough love around here, the guy does everything.
Butsy ERicson should have been given a better shot here before he was sent to Pitts. Mario may have asked for him but I think he would have been better as a King.
Bud Holloway is a solid prospect and would have been a great addition to our team but it didn't work out. Hopefully we get some value from his rights and move along. I hope we get a chance to take the Stanley Cup away from him someday like we did with Kovy.
There's only two guys Holloway has the chance of beating to earn a spot on the team. He'll never compete with our top skill guys, and he won't compete with our size guys. That means he'd have to show up and be CLEARLY better than either Lewis or Richardson......

Bud is already signed in the SEL, he is also past, his NHL out clause date.
He cannot return to play for the Kings this coming season. That means Nolan,Pearson,Toffoli,King,Lewis,Vey,Anderoff. All get another year of development, on any spot Bud might have claimed.
Bud signed in Sweden, but no one knows if he has an outclause or not from that deal.
That said, LA hasn't signed him to an NHL deal yet anyways, so until/unless they do it's a mute point.
If Holloway doesn't play 80 NHL games this year, he's a Class VI UFA. So Manchester doesn't do him or us much good. Additionally, there's a solid chance he'd get claimed on waivers if he goes to Manchester after the season he had. Someone may take a flyer on him if they need someone to provide a little offense.
Unless Bud signs with LA, makes the team straight out of camp, plays 80 games and establishes himself as being at least 3rd line worthy, his chances of remaining a King are very slim.
I still don't understand why everyone is obsessed with this guy?
The way people act around here they would trade Kopitar - Brown and Doughty to have Simmonds back and Holloway play here....
Some fans have to cling onto an internet darling. We've gone through a slew of them in the past. Now when is Justin Papineau going to get his fair shot?!
I went to the Sweden board & asked for scouting/observations on Hollway.
Holloway sounds like a PP gem, and a fan's fave "showman"-type.
May not be a complete player(?), and might possibly be more of an offensive specialist, IMO.
If that's true, then he might not be suitable for The Kings, but who really knows?
Here are a few reports by folks in Sweden who saw him play:
There's just no room for him in any top six or bottom six role. It's the problem they had with Moulson and Purcell. While they've broken out to become top six forwards, I don't think those players, including Bud, would be in such a role with a deep, playoff contending team.
The Kings have let far more talented players than Bud go, Moulson and Purcell are a couple examples, they dealt away Cammalleri who was one of the best goal scorers on the Kings for a period of time, but if he's not scoring, he's not helping his team out much. The same can be said about Jason Blake who also broke out with the Islanders but again, he isn't going to help out much if he's not potting goals.
If players like that struggle in the playoffs, your team is going to be stuck in a hole. Take Tomas Sandstrom as an example. He was one of my favorite Kings and was one of the best goal scorers on the team during the Gretzky era, but as we saw in the playoffs, if he wasn't scoring, he wasn't doing much else to help the team win. And he was pretty bad during the Finals (and I blame him for being out of position and not covering Desjardins, twice, in OT in Game 2).
It's time to move on from Bud Holloway. Thankfully this isn't the 2003-04 or 2006-07 Kings that were depleted of any depth and were desperate to add bodies to fill anything that resembled an NHL lineup. They're far past that and losing out on him isn't going to hurt this team in the least.
