Adding a talent like Parise makes any team better.

Yeah, no ****.

Let's sign Hal Gill.

If Hawks had landed Parise, almost certainly a core forward would have to go ... otherwise Stan has this team in cap hell.

Would have been all for this, but Nashville extended him for 2 years at 2M.

Same here. Ironically, I'm pretty sure the poster that brought up Gill's name was being sarcastic. Which is not surprising, btw. Some people think like the Hawks are playing in a fantasy league and have little concept of reality when it comes to the real deal.

Hal Gill isn't anything to get excited about. Nashville will probably have the slowest defense in the world next year, with Gill and Hannan, and I dont see how either of those guys would of helped us.

No doubt adding Parise makes this team or any team better. The problem is that adding Parise puts us right back in cap hell (likely) and doesn't address the major holes on this team: 2C, 3D, 1G. Upgrading each of those positions modestly makes this team better than adding one star 1LW.

He might have been sarcastic, with all the pissing matches around here, I can never tell anymore.

No thanks to Hal Gill. Big guys that are one dimensional and bring no physical element aren't anything we lack.

I'd be interested in bringing back Rene Bourque..

Don't think it would cost too much..

But I think this is the roster going into (hopefully) next season.

Well if that deal was done, Hawk's, barring a trade, would now be status quo for 2012/13. Would that be enough to win a SC? Wishful thinking if you ask me.
we need the Cap Space to add guys like Parise. It makes no sense using it on guys like Vermette. Use it wise and this time, we only need to add quality players

why?

We have a full roster already that ended with 101 pts and a lot of prospects waiting for their chances. Adding guys that won't make us better takes all the chances away of adding real talent when it is available. I'm sure Bowman would have tried to add Mike Richards last year.

Because adding players in a slot where we are already set #1 LW while doing nothing to address the glaring holes on the roster: 2C, 3D, 1G isn't a plan for success. If you could add Parise AND fill those holes I'd be all for it, but the cap space you'd use on Parise would not allow you to improve the real holes on the roster.

Sure Parise > Vermette, but is Parise > an upgrade package of 2C, 3D and a goalie? No.

Parise is one of the best Wingers in the game. If you can get him, you do it. He makes our team better.

Kane OR Sharp would be the #2 Center in this case. If they like it or not.

Stalberg - Toews - Kane
Parise - Sharp - Hossa

if this is your Top6, you have a good time coming

or you roll 3 legit lines with 3 pairs like Toews/Kane, Parise/Hossa & Sharp/Bolland

Vermette would have been a solid move as 2C. Excellent faceoff guy, good cap hit, and would have easily put up a lot of points on the 2nd line.
