I know that some NHL scouts are high on him...but then you rarely hear of the NHL scouts who are down on players...
Abeltshauser is so confusing to me. I see posters, respected posters around here that tell me that Konrad is going to be the next Sharks' late round steal. Then I see similarly respected posters that tell me he blows and isn't going to be an NHLer. I'm literally so ****ing confused about, I have no clue what to expect.

As for his point totals, he plays PP with Jo Drouin and Nate Mackinnon.

Expect something in the middle..5/6 pp specialist.

Honestly, I'd be perfectly okay with that.

For a late round pick..absolutely. Hes a big kid but not overly physical and aggressive. He has good offensive instincts and a good shot....Kurtis Foster or Filip Kuba would be good comparables.

He seems to be doing really well at the QMJHL level (from a point perspective anyway).

EDIT: He was 3rd in Pts. for defensemen in the Q having played 7 and 8 games less than the top 2 guys.
Worcester has too many d-men and the Mooseheads have a real chance to win it all. It's better for him to play #1 d-man minutes / situations in the Q then for him to play a few minutes and go in and out of the lineup in Worcester.

I've been watching KA play quite a bit over the past 2.5 seasons. I don't know how many times I have to say it but like all good players, he benefits from playing with other good (in Drouin and MacKinnon's case, exceptional) players. His current offense / point totals will not translate to the pros. He does move the puck well, has a really good heavy shot and he can skate for big guy. His defensive game is also pretty good. I do see him as having some pretty good NHL upside (considering his draft position) on both sides of the ice and his ceiling is probably decent 2nd pairing (#4) PMD.

There's a chance we might see some Sharks prospect signings sometime soon as today is the first day deals starting in 2013-14 can be signed.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Tierney & Lalancette signed before the season is over, possibly Sefton and Hertl.

Right. ME-Vlasic has a great QMJHL stat sheet (to be fair, it looked like he was translating that to pro-production in his second year).

So I am guessing he is going to be kind of like Demers? If yes, then thats pretty good.

I don't much like player comparisons 'cus it tends to give people unrealistic expectations but if I was going to pick a current Shark to compare him to, I'd say he's closer to a Braun / Irwin then he is a Demers.

I'll take it. So that gives us more trade bait for the future.

There is a big difference between Demers/Braun and Abeltshauser...literally. Abeltshauser is nearly 6'6...he doesn't have their speed, though he is a very good skater overall. Similar to Demers, Abletshauser does have very good hockey sense.

KA is a very low risk, high potential prospect. He confuses the heck out of me to watch and statistically analyze (his absence earlier in the season resulted in about a goals less production a game for the Mooseheads) what I'm interested in seeing is if he goes to the AHL next year or if he gets loaned to a Euro-team. To those who called him a bit soft or less physical, I don't know if that will always be the case, he plays mean, and I think when he fills out a bit more, he's going to be fearsome. Not that I think he plays anything like Petrecki, but I kind of feel like as Petrecki inches his way to graduation, KA will be the new heir apparent to that to that role Petrecki played within the organization off the ice--he might end up being an organizational whipping boy because of all that potential, or one of the stars of tomorrow kind of thing. People will love him and rest their future hopes on him, but after a while things will go sour if he doesn't produce.

What makes you think SJ is even thinking about loaning Abeltshauser to a European team and burning another year off his ELC?

Nieto had a hat trick in BU's 3-1 win tonight.
Abeltshauser and Tierney each had an assist in their teams wins.
Anderson was fantastic in a shoot out loss (to Tierney's Knights).
Ryan had an assist in Cornell's win.

One more - Moffie had a goal in UMI's 4-1win.

They won't. My understanding is that the org likes him quite a bit.

I know it's not happening either, I'm wondering what makes him think it's even possible.

After a pretty bad year in terms of goal scoring, Nieto scores 5 in 2 games. I really hope both he and O'Regan go to AHL next year. Although, it might be a little too early for O'Regan?

Tennyson, Acolatse, KA, Doherty, Pelech, Petrecki, Gogol next year? Will they keep Groulx?

After Nieto is done with NCAA, would he be expected to play in Worcester for a couple of years till we expect to see him play for the Sharks (assuming he pans out). So we are expecting what? 2015-2016 at the earliest?

I highly doubt O'Regan will leave college after one year. Hopefully BU will get it's crap together and be better next year.

Missed your 2nd question. Gogol is a forward and there's a good chance DeMelo turns pro. Couple other d-men might as well.

If he's gonna play full 4 years at college, he better not need whole 2 years in the AHL.

Gogol is NOT a defenseman.

I doubt they keep Groulx, and they'll be playing Pelech at forward (if he stays). Look for Urban (they LOVE the way the kid plays) and maybe Comrie to be in the mix, plus they have Dylan DeMelo coming in too.

I starting to lean toward the opinion that Nieto is done at BU after this season.

Me too.
He will need AHL time but college player development is a bit different from players coming out of the CHL so it's all going to depnd on how quickly he adjusts to the pros. Could be 6 months before he gets his NHL shot, could be 2 years.

I am curious, if he does decide to turn pro, if he'll finish the college year or sign and play out the season in Worcester.

The WorSharks have been pretty good in the past with allowing the "local" players the opportunity to do both if they want to...
