My thoughts exactly. I love the thought of a smooth skating defenseman with nerves of steel. Foligno is what the team sorely needs, but Pysyk is a better prospect at the moment. I hope Marcus doesnt have a Mike Weber like regression (show up late in season, wow us all into thinking he's a stud, only to return back to his projected development pace).

Hard to pick Pysyk when most have seen next to nothing of him. Is why I went with Marcus over him.

.... or Stafford.

I don't think he does, everything he's ever gotten was due first and foremost to hard work. I doubt that changes now. But there is a solid debate over who's the better prospect from 3-6. Is it the excellent skating, smart right-handed defenseman? Is it the tough, road grader winger with the 2-way game? Is it the massive left-handed defenseman who can hit to hurt and add to the offense in the zone? Or is it the tank built center with the leadership pedigree?

Surprised JGL hasn't gotten any love yet. Kid screams "high upside"... He's just probably one of the less likely candidates to reach his full potential.

A bunch of factors:
1. Burned by MAG
2. Current depth as far as offensive defensemen go
3. Uncertainty on how long it will take JGL to develop

That said, expect him to get plenty of attention after Foligno and Pysyk.

I think there's a clear difference between Pysyk and JGL.

But JGL vs Tropp should be an interesting debate.

I 100% agree with everything said here. I'm not a huge fan of Leopold, but I recognize that he plays an important role on the team. To me, Pysyk projects to be a more skilled, smarter version of Leopold with a little less offense and a lot more defense. If he can turns into that sort of player, he'll be a huge asset to the team.

I was torn between Pysyk and Foligno here. Ultimately I went with Foligno because he's proven he can really make an impact in the NHL with his physical play and puck battling, not to mention he's shown that at worst he won't be dead weight offensively.

Bit of a bird in the hand situation there, as Pysyk will probably be the more valuable overall player as extremely dependable two-way #3ish defensemen are generally a good deal more valuable than physical 3rd line wingers. Foligno could wind up a top 6 winger of course, just like Pysyk could be a #2 defenseman, but that all remains to be seen and Foligno's already shown that, at least when the situation is right, he can play one hell of a hockey game at the NHL level.

I'll vote for Pysyk for #6.... but I don't think he's close to #5. Pysyk leads group 2. He's not part of group 1 for me.

Curious as to why.

I don't have McNabb ranked too far ahead of him. He's absolutely in tier 1 for me (I voted for him here). The drop off is after six.

(Unless you just label the top-five as group one, the next five group two etc).

Add Nelson.

Also, while they're young and it probably means very little, I think it's great that four of our top six prospects captained their junior teams (Girgensons in Dubuque, McNabb in Kootenay, Foligno in Sudbury and Pysyk in Edmonton).

That's where I'm at as well - each player falls into the first tier (but their differing upsides split them into sub-tiers).

Foligno again. I would have had Pysyk ahead of McNabb, but what can you do. Add Knapp again.

I think what makes McNabb more valuable than Pysyk as a prospect is how unique his skillset is relative to both our own prospect pool and to a lesser extent, even the league-wide prospect pool.

It's interesting that the debate on McNabb-Pysyk could be talking about their second d-pairing in the very near future. Both can wheel the puck, Pysyk's speed can compensate for McNabb's, Brayden's ruggedness compliment's Pysyk's cerebral game.

Their skill sets almost compliment eachother too well. Hope they see some playing time together in Rochester.
